katsuki didn’t even glance up from where he sat on the edge of his bed, electric guitar resting against his thigh as his fingers lazily plucked at the strings. the amp hummed softly in the corner of his room, low enough not to bother the neighbors, but loud enough that you could feel the vibrations in your chest.
you blinked. “what?”
“like i just personally serenaded your ass at a concert.” he scoffed, finally looking over at you from beneath messy blond bangs. “it’s weird.” he rolled his eyes at you, while fighting a small grin.
you laid across his bed on your stomach, chin propped in your hands while watching him tune his guitar for the past ten minutes straight. honestly, you could’ve watched him for hours. there was just something unfairly attractive about katsuki with a guitar in his hands.
his rings glinted against the strings every time he moved. his forearms flexed subtly when he adjusted the tuning pegs. the sleeves of his faded black band tee rode up enough to expose toned skin and the faint outline of veins beneath it.
it was distracting.
very, distracting.
you smiled innocently. “sorry. you’re just really, really pretty.”
katsuki nearly hit the wrong chord, black sparkly pick nearly slipping out his grip. the sharp twang echoed through the room, followed by a muttered, “fuck.”
your grin widened instantly.
“what happened to that big shot guitarist act, huh?” you teased, grinning up at him. “i thought you were the great dynamight on guitar.”
“shut up.”
he tried to come off as scary, glaring at you with crimson eyes practically on fire. it would’ve been intimidating, if the tips of his ears weren’t pink that is.
he looked away again, pretending to focus on his guitar while playing a rough progression of chords, but you caught the tiny smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.

you rolled onto your back with a dramatic sigh. “it’s sooo hard dating a hot guitarist.”
“you’re annoyin’ as hell today.”
“and yet you’re obsessed with me.”
“didn’t say all that.”
you stared at him silently, already knowing the answer in your head.
katsuki lasted maybe, three seconds? — before clicking his tongue. “yeah, yeah. whatever.”

a comfortable silence settled afterward, filled only by the sound of him playing the low cords. softer this time. slower.
you watched as he tested out melodies absentmindedly, expression calmer than usual. katsuki wasn’t quiet often, but when he played, he got like this sometimes. focused. relaxed. almost vulnerable in a way nobody else got to see.
then, without warning, he started playing something familiar.
your brows lifted. “wait…”
it took a second before realization hit.
“is that—”
“don’t start.”
your mouth dropped open. “you wrote me a song?!”
“it ain’t finished.”
“suki!”
he groaned loudly while you sat up excitedly, scrambling across the bed toward him. “oi— quit movin’ around before you knock my shit over.”
“play it again.”
“no.”
“pleaseee?”
he stared at you for a long moment before sighing through his nose dramatically.
“…fine.”
your smile softened almost immediately when he started over.
the melody was pretty. a little rough around the edges, but still pretty. which was the exact combination the two of you were honestly.
you listened quietly this time, eyes fixed on his hands moving against the strings while he avoided looking directly at you. and maybe it was embarrassing how hard your heart melted over something so simple.
one thing about bakugou was that he was never the best at saying things outright.
but this?
this was basically a love confession coming from someone like him.
the final note rang out softly before fading into silence.
“…well?” he muttered.
you didn’t answer right away; instead, you leaned forward carefully and wrapped your arms around his neck, nearly knocking the guitar sideways in the process.
“shit— watch the guitar!”
you laughed against his shoulder. “sorry.”
his hands steadied the instrument quickly before settling against your waist.
“so?” he asked again, quieter this time.
you pulled back just enough to look at him properly.
“i think i’m gonna need you to marry me.”
bakugou barked out a laugh before rolling his eyes.
“dramatic ass.”
but he was smiling.

and when you leaned in to kiss him, he kissed you back immediately, one hand sliding up to cradle the side of your face while the other still loosely held his guitar in place.
