Brian wanting Freddie to “thrust himself forward” but knowing he wouldn’t write lyrics like that for himself, but realizing he could do it for him as his lyricist–I don’t know, something about this is getting to me. Like Brian really wanted Freddie to sing these beautiful lyrics about himself and to give him a way to do it that made him feel comfortable. It’s like Brian wanted Freddie to see himself the way he saw him….

🔸Producer Dave Richards added: “He was dying when he did those songs, and he knew he would be dead when they were finished because he said to me, ‘I’m going to sing it now because I can’t wait for them to do music on this. Give me a drum machine and they’ll finish it off.'”
