"Ah, excellent!" She beams, pleased to have not been led astray. "My name is Chandira Gowda-- though please, call me Dira. All my friends do." She pauses to accept a sparkling glass off of a tray as someone brings it by, taking a sip before continuing.
"I was actually going to give your offices a call tomorrow morning, how fortunate for me to run into you here. I find myself in need of upgrading the security for one of my buildings, and your consulting work comes highly recommended." Dira glances behind her at an open balcony. "I know this is hardly the place for it.. but I wonder if you might have a few moments to talk shop?"
Gowda... that sounded familiar for some reason. Kassajin felt himself smile, all the while digging through the recesses of his memory for that family name. Wasn't that... leather goods? If this were about promotional media, any other member of his family would be a superior choice. "Nice to meet you, Dira."
Ah, security concerns. That made far more sense. His consulting work was largely a farce, though he'd attacked and defended enough buildings in his life - a security assessment would hardly be a challenge. "Oh, of course, I'd be happy to." He gestures towards the open balcony she's indicated and steps out after, eyes scanning the grounds outside. "Any particular reason for concern? Or just preparing for the possibility?"

The decoration doesn't make the event feel any less tense. Dominic has been in rooms full of compromises and killers (in the literal and business sense) nearly his entire life, and there's almost something amusing to the fact that people never really change. Each soul has their hackles up—him included. And, really, can anyone blame them?
When Kassajin sidles up to his side, Dominic turns his head to glance at him from the corner of his eye. His brow raises: "Is that what you think they're all feeling?" He brings his drink to his mouth, looking back to the crowd. They're all gathered in clusters, select throngs, just on their way to mingling. Greta and Nora, he thinks, are doing their best to primp and preen; he hasn't yet caught sight of Simone. "I want you watching closely, without getting too much in the way."
"I think they're feeling smug and superior," Kassajin replied blandly, watching a server roam about the room with a plastic smile on their lips. It was amazing how invisible people could be in spaces like these. Silver trays and smart uniforms did more than shadows and silence ever could. "Just another well-pressed day durin' an eon of excellence."
He nods once, "Sure. Any groups in particular, or just in general?" Kass really had no preference; a job was a job. Though if it came down to the fine details, surveying their own people was always more of a pain than watching the enemy. There were so many rules when it came to their extended family -- the burden of proof heavier.
[Georgia]: Alright, but don't drink too much, Kass... We can't afford to let our guards down around the wolves.
[Georgia]: You're blessed with a handsome face like that and you waste it in the background of other people's photos!!
[Georgia]: I will never understand it.

"Forgive me," She starts almost diplomatically, sidestepping someone in a garish shade of yellow to position herself in front of the tall man. "You're Kassajin Du Bois, yes?"
The first replies that came to mind weren't any good, so he put on a smile. Best behavior today. "Yes, that'd be me." He takes a small sip from his drink, ignoring the urge to down it and beeline away from this circus. "I apologize, I'm not sure who you are."

Everything about this event was so manicured and contrived, Kassajin was certain that if it'd been a person, their asshole would've been bleached. Crystal lighting, the luxuriant red carpet, antevenas circulating the room on silver trays - it was the posh designer gathering of his nightmares. Should've taken notes from mother.
Spotting his father, Kassajin strode through the room with measured steps until he came up beside the older man. He spoke in a low tone, sure his voice wouldn't carry to others over the music. "Feeling unified and ready for the future?"
