I’m back. I know I promised myself that I would be active in writing here again, but for some reason faith had other plans for me.
So recently, like 2 weeks ago, I got sick. Yes, I thought at first it was just a normal rash from an insect bite, but it turns out that it wasn’t and it was an Auto-Immune disease (means my immune system is attacking something with in my body). Anyways, like I said, it first started as a single rash on my right knee, it was on a Monday, August 21, 2017, that I noticed it, then it started spreading on my other leg and then my right knee started to really swell that I could not even walk nor stand properly, on that note, I knew something was wrong.
I left work early for me to get checked up, by that time I literally was dying whenever I take a few steps, good thing one of my best friend here in Dubai was off that day and she accompanied me to the clinic that afternoon. So I got checked up by the doctors in the clinic, and turns out they said I had HSP, one of the many kinds of vasculitis, they said that it was a rare disease that mostly attacks children (since I’m a child at heart maybe that’s the reason why I got this). The gave me some medicine to lessen all my join pains and swelling and they also have given me 1 week of Sick Leave.
I thought I would just be staying home for a week until I felt better, but instead I felt even worse. As days passed by, I noticed that I could not even drink nor eat anything and the swelling and rashes are spreading all through out my body. I did not have any energy to do anything but sleep, and even though I would sleep, my body would always wake me up because of the pain that I was feeling in my abdomen. That’s when I decided to be admitted in a hospital, and boy it was a roller coaster ride. I got rejected by 2 hospitals before finally being admitted (I’m so pissed and irritated about the whole experience that I don’t even want to bother on putting in here). Stayed at Prime Hospital for almost a week, had the best doctors and nurses who took real good care of me.
And now, I finally got home, although still on recovery.
I don’t really want to sound overly dramatic (like I always do anyway) and I know my illness wasn’t nearly a near death experience kind of thing, but it did made me realise a lot of things. Like first, I now know that people who truly cares and respects you will always stick by you no matter what, good or bad, they would be there for you. Second, I started to think about the things that really matter, like time, your family, your friends, your work and your faith. And lastly, I did value my health, after that I promised myself that I would gradually start to eat healthy, I could not bare going back to the hospital.
So that’s it, just a little update on my life right now. Will take to you soon K!
