The world is basically my favorite explanation to the question of why mundane household electronics act like humans: The Five Nights at Freddy's method. Basically a tech startup figured out a way to industrialize the process of sealing a soul inside an object, and sold it to the masses as a way to bring loved ones back once they perish

The main problem with this process is that once souls are trapped inside of Androids, they won't don't ever die. If their body or mind gives up, they become what's called "A Wretched": aimless blobs of flesh that have no desires other than to merge and murder. The only way to release the soul is to burn the object--which wasn't a problem until the world ended

The Collapse evaporated a all water and all combustible materials basically overnight. (basically imagine if we stuck the world in a microwave). Humanity is functionally extinct, but the robots remain

The main character is Rogue Anderson: someone who's backstory is too traumatic for them not to have any lasting problems

Rogue has DID, which hasn't been a problem for them while they've been in the wasteland. The wastes have been consistent, and free of many people. (It's been so consistent that the disassociate part hasn't had any huge impacts on their life for 5 years). That all changes however when they get kidnapped and taken to Salvation: a gated community that was brought to life shortly after The Collapse.

I've been prototyping the characters in the universe with Dummy 13 figures: 3d printed, fully articulated robot esque action figures. So I while I have a lot of the character details worked out, how they actually work inside is something that I've not really touched

I'm imagining the arms and fingers are articulated using pulleys, and the legs use hydraulics. Each finger and elbow joint is controlled using a steel wire: pulling on it contracts the joint and pushing does the opposite. All of the motors that control this motion are held in the chest, and all of the wires are contained in a metal casing (called the drive shaft)

what is your writing fuel? do you consume anything (food or otherwise) that automatically puts you in the headspace to create? I'm curious.
