          Before we go get these waistbeads let's look into where they come from. Waistbeads have traditionally been worn by African women since about the 15th century to serve many celebratory purposes. In Africa the beads are rarely a simple ornament; beads are worn visibly yet perceptible signal to a husband or lover. In some parts of Africa, the beads are anointed in oils.  The Yorubas believe it is to be worn as a form of birth control, as a way of preventing obesity, or for their healing and therapeutic powers. 

          As far as waistbeads for a sexual purpose, some beads are adorned with bells, which is a signal to let a man know that the woman wants to engage in sexual intercourse. Some women lace their beads with charms and fragrances that is said to make them irresistible to men. A few even believe that if a woman wears waistbeads and is good is bed her man will never leave because it has the ability to stir deep erotic feelings in men. So this is where they have officially got me, I'm sold!!! 

    They can help with weight?!?  Many women use waistbeads to control their weight gain. The beads are used to remind them and act as a tracker for your body which helps you. If you lose weight, the beads on your waist will roll lower, and if you gain weight, they will become tighter or higher.  I haven't seen any negative, seems like a win-win and AGAIN I'm sold. 

     Today waistbeads are worn by women of every culture for healing purposes, decorative adornment, feminine empowerment, confidence building, sensuality, weight loss tracking. They are usually made to fit and are not to be taken on/off. There is a 'waistbeads tying ceremony'. Now we just have to choose a color and find which black-owned business to get them from!

Red: Courage, Self-confidence, energy, power, love, vitality, desire, sexual energy.

Blue: Symbol of knowledge, Trust, harmony, wisdom, faith, intelligence, healing, peace, truth, devotion.

Green: Harmony, Hope, mature, generous, freshness, fertility, growth, nature, abundance, healing.

Gold: Wealth, prestige, high-quality, good health, power.

Purple: Wisdom, nobility, luxury, mystery, spirituality, royalty, ambition, creativity.

Orange: Optimism, Joy, courage, enthusiasm, sunshine, success, attraction, happiness, positive mood.

Yellow: Increase awareness, knowledge, stress relief clarity, awareness, joyful, wisdom.

Pink: Romantic, feminine, love, friendship, care, kindness, beautiful.

White: Innocent, light, virginity, purity, goodness.

Brown: Stability, strength, honesty, earth, friendliness.

Black: Authority, protection, elegance.

   With Janelle Monae recently coming "Pansexual" people including myself have the Question "What the fu*k is pansexual?". Since Janelle Monae spoke about it there has been a spike in the search for the word and the meaning.

The dictionary says not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender, or gender identity. Wikipedia says it's a branch of bisexuality. it also says pansexuality ( or omnisexuality as it's sometimes called) is a sexual, romantic, or emotional attraction towards people regardless of their sex or gender identity. The term' " pansexual" seems to gain ground around the 90's

 In the 2013 Pride Source interview Janelle Monae said " I just live my life and people can feel free to discuss whatever adjectives they feel. It's a free country." It has been rumored that she was bisexual but She recently spoke to Rolling Stone Magazine in April 2018 where she decided to speak on the rumor.  "Being a queer black woman in America, someone who has been in a relationship with both men and women- I consider myself a bad motherfucker. But later on I read about pansexuality and was like, 'oh, these are things I identify with too,' I'm open to learning more about who I am."

  Sunday March 18, 2018 two Sacramento police officers shot and killed 20 year old Stephon Clark in his backyard. The unarmed young man was said to be shot 20 times by the two police officers ( 10 rounds each). The firsts reports were he had a gun. Then the seconds reports were he had a crow bar and then it was revealed have only had a cellphone. The police were responding to a call of someone breaking into vehicles about 9:18 PM on that Sunday night. A helicopter also responded to that call and reported seeing a man use a tool bar to break a window. 

    The police are on paid administrative leave. You can now view one of the recordings from that night online with a quick Google of #StephonClark. Some media outlets are also given you the VICTIM background. But we don't know much about the "alleged killers".  One of the important things to know is this 20 year old young father of two was UNARMED!!!
