Heâs just put the kettle on and hoisted himself up onto the kitchen counter when â âOh.â
âHi,â Sebastian says tentatively. London wonders how long he practiced that chagrined tone in front of a mirror. He doesnât reply. âOkay, I see youâre not speaking to me.â
He shrugs. âGot nothing to say.â
Sebastian actually looks hurt at that. London has to restrain himself not to kick out to give the expression a just cause.
âItâs good to see you again.â
He sounds so earnest that London canât help but snort derisively. âSure, whatever makes it easier for you to work with me.â
âIâm not ââ he breaks off, smoothing down the front of his expensive looking shirt and picking some imaginary lint off his sleeve. âI took the job because I wanted to see you again.â
Liar.
