一度人間の味を覚えた個体は危険一般に熊は人を恐れ、人を襲うのは突然人間と出会いその恐怖心からと言われている。それを防ぐためには鈴などを鳴らして人間の存在を事前に知らせ鉢合わせする機会を減らせばよいとされる。だが、人間の無力さと人肉の味を知った熊の個体は人間を獲物と認識するようになる。その場合は逆に鈴の音などを鳴らすと獲物の存在を知らせる事になり、かえって危険である。
