She snorted as he was being a smart ass and she stuck her tongue out at him. âHush up Kane before I just decide to bite YOU instead of the doctorâ she teased smiling at him, a faint sparkle behind her eyes. This was the type of playful banter that happened a lot in the Champerlyn household when Madison was young.
When he mocked about being able to choose what slop he ate she rolled her eyes. âI wouldnât say that too loudâŚSara the cook might overhear youâŚand rumor has itâŚif she doesnât like youâŚshe will burn your foodâ she whispered looking up at him with wide eyes. âbut thatâs never happened to meâŚshe even makes people cakes on their birthdays!â she returned to her smiling face and laughed.âcome onâŚiâll grab a food menu and you can pick out what you wantâŚâ she stood up and held out her hand for him.
She understood how he felt but once she ran out of her Full Flavors she decided to try and quit. âI understand how you feel about thatâŚbut theyâll run out sooner or later sadlyâ she stared down at him âunless you flirt with one of the nurses. It would be a lot easier for you to bum a smoke than meâ
"Biting? Hmm.....I could be into that", Kane teased back with a smirk, winking suggestively. It was nice to be able to joke around again, he thought. It was one of the things he missed about being around his friends back at school. Sure, maybe Madison was a little bit whiny, but she seemed allright once you got past that, and Kane figured maybe at least having a few friends to ease the monotony at Thornewood wouldn't be too bad. The thing was, he reminded himself....not to get attached. After all, he was fine, he'd probably be let out since he wasn't as crazy as most of them. No point in getting too attached if his stay was only temporary. Though he honestly was starting to really like Madison.Â
"Oh yeah, because I should really be terrified of the cook. Oooh, she's going to burn my food, dang, that'll really teach me a lesson. Way to put me in my place and really show me the error of my ways", Kane shook his head in mock contrition. "Yeah yeah, of course it's never happened to you. You can't even lie to a doctor, of course you'd never mouth off to a cook", he chuckled. "Cake? Well then. And I though nobody in here was going to care", he shook his head, putting a hand over his heart as though touched. "Because yeah, a little party in a mental hospital is really going to make the fact that I'm here all better", he said, slightly bitterly. Shrugging, he took her hand, shooting her a faint smile as he followed her down the hall. Her continuous positive attitude, while not the sort of attitude he would ever have, was kind of charming sometimes. "Allright, allright. At least picking my own stuff is better than the mystery meat", he shook his head, making a face.
"Flirt with the nurses? Oh, good idea, I'm on it!", he chuckled, smirking to himself. "That is a bummer though. Maybe if you're nice to me, I could share", he nudged her playfully. "Or you could find a bored security guard, try your luck flirting with him?"
