Awww thank you sm !! Well, references are VERY good but it’s just a matter of your self-control. Chances are if you trace, your muscle memory will catch onto the proportions anyways, so for the time being it’s fine - but I recommend trying to draw beside the reference, not on top of it! Also, I suggest learning skills such as gesture drawing, it helps a lot with drawing fluid bodies. Search up some youtube videos on figure drawing, too. I go to an art Uni and we have figure drawing sessions where the model makes one pose for every 1 - 5 minutes, meaning you have to get the gist of the pose FAST and in a minimal amount of detail. I recommend challenging yourself that way too, create a slideshow or time yourself - when you draw enough of quick poses you get the rough idea of where things go and then when you wish to elaborate on a pose you’ll have the basics on your side !! I hope this was some help!

I’m fine with being inspiration !!! There is nothing wrong with being inspired or enlightened by someone. A problem is copying them directly, down to details that make their style iconic to them, and if you don’t do that then you’re in the clear with me. I can’t claim any rights to a semi-realistic cartoony/animey style, and if I’m your inspiration to try this style type out go right ahead and do it !!! ❤ It’s just important that a person understands what inspiration vs. referencing is before copying and claiming its “inspiration” when its actually referencing (I know I don’t like being a reference, but I like being an inspiration - I hope that makes sense, google definitions if you need to). I know a lot of artists have this problem, but once again: Everyone is free to draw how ever you like! Yes, you’re allowed to be inspired by how I draw facial features to explore diversity in your characters faces! Because all artists are influenced by other artists, but the more unique your attention to detail becomes the greater an artist you grow into. So heavens, go for it. Very good question and I am so deeply touched by you being curious as to what happens to my OC !!! I will keep her, 100% - and ngl i feel like i’ll use her the same way. I can have a country OC that is not aph-related, but also have the option to use her as an original non-affiliated character if I so please (with how many AUs i have, i technically already do treat her this way lolol). Maria is very special to me; and I still think her design is fun and enjoyable. She will never die ❤
