Ryland Grace wrote "An Analysis of Water Based Assumptions and Recalibrations of Expectations for Evolutionary Models", not because he was really hell bent on water being unnecessary but more so to spite his ex-boyfriend, Simon Fleischer.
So what if the man he fell in love with during their joint bachelors and masters programs happen to be a dedicated marine biologist who believed in the essential nature of water and that all life evolves from it? Maybe Ryland just has a differing academic opinion.
And maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t the heartbreak of Simon choosing to leave him for the NASA Eden program that caused him to write that paper. Maybe he really believes that everyone who thinks life has to evolve from water is truly just an idiot.
The need for water in the evolutionary process ruined his life and took Simon from him, so sue him for believing in another way.
