FIRION'S SKINTONE!?

#please tell me they finally gave him his melanin back!#he was never even that dark to begin with and that's why #it just made them lightening and brightening him so much #worse!! like i'm still bitter clive was darker!? i was hoping recently #that tiida/tidus also comes with the proper skintone! i pray!#it is a relief that i saw other ppl voice the same on the duellum #sub so it's good ppl are noticing and talking abt it! but damn #that shouldnt have happened in the first place and i actually #have a general idea of why/how it happened but i am hesitant #to fully entertain it even tho i feel pretty certain on it...#(which is him being bottom'd for wol so of course he has to be #lighter and more delicate because the bottom can never be #darker than the top -or as equally masculine-... it would explain #*A LOT* abt his duellum model...)

I kept thinking it was weird how minimal of a presence JPN devs had in the S0P's, but then I saw the lifetime sales of the ＰＳ5, and it clicked. Those numbers seemed almost abysmal. The rest of the world is making up for it of course, but I just couldn't believe how low it was.

Coming back to this, it's incredible how much JRPG presence the Direct had. Nintendo brought plenty themselves and I'm mostly looking forward to it, but even Square surprised me with how much they went in. And then a new Atelier was announced, plus the Eternia remaster.

#on the one hand some of the fire emblem characters look ashy #as hell and that's worrying as much as it's pissing me off #unless there is a story reason or their skintones get fixed #i will hard pass. and it's weird because that is one of my fave #character designers who did just fine with brown skintones in #3h so why they had her do this now? iunno. and with xenoblade #i am still side eye of how few melanated characters there are #(again...) and the few we see are so in the background and not #in the main party except for a guy and maybe the other guy #in the lead but i swear this franchise hates melanated women #even elma is... well. the spoiler! so yea that shit looks weird rn #and i still want to play the game because i love a genuinely #beautiful anime looking game but nintendo is making me #side-eye and this is after they did so well with marina and how #diverse the skintones were for the gerudo (even if there were #issues with sexualizing bias etc). it is actually weird and #frustrating that the best jrpg for varied skintone rep from the #direct is the remaster of a jrpg from 2000... at least one of #the main party members in karia is brown and she looks cute #but i hope they're not weird abt her. ffbe for its entire 7 or #whatever year run also hated melanated ppl but esp girls and #wotv was not much better at all... so i expect not much from #it either even tho i am going to buy and play it. it's just #odd and sad is all... but in general how well jrpgs showed #out for the direct is cool and i'm excited for that much #even if i'm not optimistic abt the world or like this nation #in the coming months. i'm really at odds internally...

At this point, I'm fairly certain one of the cancelled HD games was FFIX's remake, but when I think of how the characters look in their newer renders on the anniversary merch, I'm actually relieved. It feels like they were going to go in a direction that just wouldn't make sense for IX visually. And I get its proportions and visual directions will always hold it back from some people liking it, but I actually prefer it that way now. I think if anything, Square just needs to look at how nice the CGI scenes are and take a cue from them.

Look how cute and happy she is? This is already perfection. If they won't do something more overtly, anime stylized, they just need their realism to be based on the cutscenes and not strive for anything different.

#steiner is inspired visually and role wise by zenigawa. that man #is anime as hell. old school anime. and that's beautiful! we #don't need to lose that! there is a walking rat lady in the party #and a blue creature with barely a full face! i really need square #to get a fucking clue about how tis game should be treated #in its art and graphical direction. not everything needs to go #the way of ff7 remake which.. i get it looks good but it actually #feels like trash visually to me. it is 7 at its most hollow design #and mood wise and i do not want that for ff9. i am actually #relieved the remake is cancelld if it was going to look like those #new renders and i hope seeing how many budget dq games are #doing well and the pixel games doing well is a great reminder #that not everything needs to be hyper realism even when it #started as the most cartoony and anime things can get #hopefully too seeing ppl get into duellum and appreciate its #character models and art direction will get them to realize!

Just remembered that I heard Wicked Spot got cancelled, and that was, like... the day before it finally released in English. How fucked up is that?

#kodansha has done a lot of redeeming and then they did that #so i will always be a little skeptical of them now because #how could you not even wait for the title to find an audience #elsewhere first? maybe some of these publishers are just #expecting and and every gl title to get the magical love bullet #treatment where fans help push to save it? but these publishers #need to start meeting ppl halfway first like damn #i think a battan title is also at risk? some of our gl heroes are #being suppressed in all srsness on top of seeing ppl #recently try to attribute all the queerness in sm to ikuhara is like...#the en sphere of gl is in bad shape all around. i'm so happy i was #able to find a core group of gl lovers to follow that keep their #heads on straight so i can find titles and stay informed because #imagine being lost enough to say a man like ikuhara is the #height of lesbian storytelling when takeuchi herself is right there #and he has openly stated he works with women for their role #and status. and yet only he ever gets the credit and they get #trashed... and somehow while still being problematic in his #own right i rarely see enough ppl in en gl spaces as a group #hype up the many women (LESBIANS!) making queer stories #with all kinds of female characters. adults hs stories abt messy #women and snobby girls and average girls and relatable women #like jeez this is so exhausting and sad...

This kinda shit is so infuriating.

#and ppl act like women and enbys are weird for taking a stance #on what kind of men are making yuri or in these spaces #this on top of hearing that nasty pedo 'gl' got picked up for an #anime yet stuff like 10th forgery is on the verge of being axed #thank you to mystery bonita tho for giving this a shot #i can't say akita shoten is perfet but i respect the #bonita imprint for giving us 10th forgery + a witch in mongol #+ credits roll into the sea + children of the whales+ and #probably more diverse works i don't know about!#old women and butch lesbians and muslim women and #women of varid skintones in fantasy getting to exist in #manga is refreshing and important and i'm happy so many #of these have been licensed and i pray 10th forgery can be too #before it gets axed and the localizing helps #it just makes me mad tho that gl is alrdy treated so shitty #in the industry and then you have consumers and general #audiences pushing their lesbophobia and ignorance onto #gl in all sorts of ways and it sucks

I always regret not being able to get these. I only wanted the MKR set, and I think I even discovered them when only Umi's was left or something.

The sad part is, since finding them again online, I've only seen Sakura and Yuuko's for sale on sites. I wonder if I'll ever come by the MKR set in the wild...

#i can't believe i managed to find and collect them alll....!!! and they weren't even priced bad! barely above their original msrp #i am so so happy omg... they are so much prettier than i thought #they'd be too! i suppose if i find yuuko and sakura's sets again #and th price isn't bad i might actually get the now! i'd at least #like to display sakura's set with a full collection of the ccs le manga. idk what i'd display yuuko's wiith but maybe i'll make #a gneral clamp display and put it with everything else

Seeing some of the other CLAMP series getting more and more figures... I'm wishing for that same energy to go toward RG Veda, Tokyo Babylon, X and the Gakuen-verse.

I have sadly given up on the idea of Clover getting anything, but it is another CLAMP, shoujo title that I love a lot.

#sad that only very specific titles are still getting figures and #the majority of other goods even with the clamp #exhibition counted in there. really hoping the #fans shop helps fix this a bit

Yumia felt pretty original, besides being Rem x Hotaru. But it's funny to me that Karia seems so reminiscent of Judie. I wonder if it's happenstance, or if they'll use that as a selling point to push a Judie port eventually?

#her basic color scheme and outfit layout for one but even how #she fell into the cauldron just gave me judie accidentally #sending herself through time (even funnier for a memories game)

Oh, wow. Well! Not HD-2D 1-3, but Resonance is a good start! And it's a spin-off (already existing, albeit), so that's a two for one!

No SaGa or Mana at all, sadly. I hope Unlimited gets its chance by the end of the year, and I forgot to add some form of port of the WSC SaGa 1, and the DS games. No Harvestella either, but it was interesting to see what we got from Square.

Only one Atelier game and it's another Memories entry, sadly. I'll take it. Just means Atelier is still going, and I'll just keep hoping for Elie remake, and a new Dusk title with Hidari back.

No updates from Marvelous either, but I'm hopeful that means they're taking their time. It's been some years since Olive Town, but not so long since GB Switch 1/2, and the other ports are still very fresh.

I'm actually very surprised by this Direct and excited for more.

#idk abt the oot remake looks a little too movie based for me #but i am prety hyped over xenoblade just annoyed at the lack #of melanated characters in the forefront at all #if they still do an august direct i'll be pretty excited for it i think #or maybe we'll get a tgs one instead?#anyway a lot is coming out in october so i'm very curious how #the winter lineup is looking

I saw fanart earlier and I coulda sworn it was Konoha, but I did a double-take because it was one of my favorite artists and I just doubted that could be. But it really was Konoha! And they even drew multiples of her, and a Yomi one!!! And one of Konoha with Iana!!!

I noticed an uptick of Dark History fanart from KR artists recently, and I'm so happy it's doing well there!
