“So the great and powerful Kaleb manages to walk alone?” Sarcasm was thick in her voice and Dove had to pull herself back. She shouldn’t act like this was a man who owed her anything. “I apologise, I was just curious to meet the clan leader of this area. Your stories precede you.”

       she’s taken to walking. even though it’s not safe, even though it’s reckless, she needs a chance to clear her head. the fog, however, is not helping. it’s distracting her senses and making her even more vulnerable. she barely catches the vampires scent on the wind, only as he is a few metres ahead of her. “kaleb ??” she recognises the old vampire leader instantly. though they were hardly close ( she’s fairly certain he’s only ever insulted her ); he’s a relatively relieving sight. unlikely to be a threat. “what’re you doing out here ??”

Dove edged forward carefully. This was a face she knew, a face that she had spent years trying to seal into her memory and a face that she had also tried to forget. Perhaps he didn’t know her, perhaps he did. Dove wasn’t sure she wanted to know the answer to that. As she gazed at him, she noted something. It was the eyes. Those were hers or perhaps actually his. Genetics, it was an interesting thing. However, she only said two words in response, no matter the words she actually wanted to say. “Hello, Kaleb.”

    “ hey. don’t kill me just yet. ” caroline joked, shaking her head. she then reached to grab his hand, running her thumb on his knuckles gently. “ i don’t say this enough… thank you. for everything. ” her smile growing bigger, the girl then tugged at his hand slightly. “ got any more business for tonight ? ”

    “ that’s good. ” she let out a sigh after seeing that he wasn’t in a sour mood. she felt guilty enough about returning so soon. mirroring the small smile on kaleb’s face, she shrugged. “ not bad. ” she then added with a bigger smile. “ i’d surely rather i was sipping a bloody mary in new orleans like we planned, but – it’s also good to be back. ”

    sitting on the bed in the vampire’s room at hotel dumort, caroline was pretty tense, in all honesty, waiting for kaleb to return from the meeting with his vampires. meanwhile it was not her decision alone to leave, returning was her demand after discovering her sister’s absence. so surely, she felt guilty about having him go through this before he was ready. as soon as the door opened, the girl shuffled on her spot, hazel hues meeting his. “ hey, ” she mumbled nervously, watching him approach. “ so – how did it go ? ”

nothing bad or anything i was just insanely busy with graduating high school and applying for unis and stuff but the worst is over so i figured it is finally time for me to come back and destroy the rp once again sdfg

what happened ic:

nothing too bad either, kaleb just went on vacation with caroline without telling the clan or anyone else, he was just too fed up with the drama lmao

i think he was gona for a couple months ic, so it was long but nothing too over the top dramatic

for a moment his amusement goes over her head, and ellaria thinks that he’s doubting her as his daughter, but then it clicks that he’s teasing her and she ducks her head as she slides the pills back into her pocket.

“ you wouldn’t of . i created them and i never shared them with anyone else . i haven’t exactly spent much time around our kind . “

ellaria pulls two of the pills from her pocket, letting them clink in her grip before she offers them to him.

“ they’re blood pills . i created them , and i’ve been using them for centuries . i have to take a few ; two of them three times a day , and they aren’t as satisfying as fresh blood , but it means i don’t have to hurt anyone - all the blood is donated . “

at his offer she balks, hand slipping inside her pocket to feel the cold pills that lay there. ellaria rolls them between her fingers. she hadn’t drank blood - truly drank blood in years. instead her diet consisted of blood pills; normally they’d be enough to fully sate her, but she’d been skipping a few here and there, too distracted to fill her hunger.

“ no , no … i uh - i don’t actually drink blood . i haven’t in years . but thank you . “

his admission startles her and something inside her softens, so she moves forward and hugs him again before pulling back.

“ mama never told me . i just .. i assumed that you didn’t want us , or me at least . “

she’s tempted to tell him that their lives were far from peaceful , to tell him of everyone who shunned her mother until she married , of the day she was taken from their village and married to a lord - of the day he died and she was forced to wed another . instead ellaria smiles at him, swallowing around the lump in her throat.

“ it’s fine , kaleb . i would’ve done the same in your position … we’re here now at least - a perk of immortality is that we have an eternity to make up for it all . “

“ kaleb slow down , “

she tries to placate him, palms up and eyes amused. his name feels wrong on her tongue. she’s always referred to him as dad or papa in her head, saying his name feels so odd.

“ i was attacked . someone found me and turned me - but they were gone when i crawled out of my grave . mama told me about you - well your name at least . i think it hurt too much to talk about you after you left us . a few years after i turned i heard some vampires mention your name . i got curious and tracked you down . you aren’t an easy man to track , and it took a while but i found you . im sorry i never made contact before now - you left our family for a reason . i didn’t want your old life to ruin your new one . “

he believes her. thank god he believes her- it had been one of the main things she’d been scared of. he may not have believed her. he may have rejected her. he may have not even given her the time of day. ellaria laughs away a sob as he hugs her, with a smile just like her mother’s. god she hates crying ,but she can’t help it. she’s always wanted a father, and now here he is. it’s so surreal.
