My Kai*soo Apartment Project Posts - Part Three - Is this Kai*soo’s Apartment? A collaboration post with @eyesmagic
I am posting this ahead of Part Two in my apartment series because the lovely @eyesmagic and I have been chatting back and forth, trying out our different theories about this photo, so we decided to collaborate and present our findings together. @eyesmagic is a living encyclopaedia of K*D knowledge and it has been so fun to work together.
Let’s start with the picture. The first thing ruled out was that the photo was flipped (Se*hun would do that to play with us!). The water cooler has Korean letters on it. @baozinoodle translated it for us and it says “Crystal” which is a water company in Korea. Also K*S is right handed. So the photo is correct.
In the kitchen area you see a stove and to the right of that what looks like a microwave (it looks open slightly to me) or it could be a coffee maker. Also, there’s a dish drainer on the half wall shelf, but it is appears to be used for storage, as the cups are stacked on top of each other rather than spread out to dry. This means that in this kitchen, the sink is not to the right of the stove, so is probably to the left of it, which lines up with the kitchen we see in the V-Live.
Above the stove we see a spoon hanging. Images in the concave of a spoon are upside down. The reflection in the spoon shows a light on the bottom and a dark space at the top. Turn that around and it means there’s a ceiling light and then a void of dark space below (again in keeping with where the kitchen opens up to the dark gray living area in the V-Live, if the stove is just to the right of the sink).
Is it the dorm? The dorm has a much bigger kitchen area and if memory serves, a kitchen-like (no stove) area, but both are quite open. Also, @eyesmagic pointed out that surely K*S would not cook that meal in a smaller kitchen when a larger one is available. So we are ruling out the dorm.
I questioned if this was an efficiency apartment where K*S was filming and that Se*hun was visiting there. @eyesmagic sent me the photo of K*S with his tap instructor at the school in Seoul on October 7th and also a map showing the school’s location. She pointed out that Se*hun’s Instagram photo was posted on October 8th, one day later. She also noted that K*S is wearing the same clothes in both. So this places K*S in Seoul when Se*hun’s picture was taken, so elsewhere is ruled out.
Okay, down to the nitty-gritty. In the V-Live there is that space to the left of the kitchen which lends itself to being a dining area, although I have thought it could be a front door/hall/bathroom area. This picture could not have been taken there because in order for the table to be coming out from the half kitchen wall, it would have to jut out to the left. It does not, it goes right and we know that direction is correct. Additionally the space behind Jong*in the photographer is dark, If the photo was taken there the photographer would be standing in a well-lit corner, backed up against a wall. So that area is ruled out.
Let’s talk about the spoon.
@eyesmagic’s friend kindly worked on the photo close-up of the spoon so we have a pretty good picture to scrutinize. The reflection we see in the spoon is a great piece of evidence in support of this being Kai*soo’s apartment. Note that you can see Jong*in the photographer easily, K*S’s hand, the dishes and the water bottle on the table. But key is this: the background behind the photographer is um, gray. This means, if this is the place where the photo was taken, then the table must be located somewhere where the dining area opens up to a larger, darker area (again, like the V-Live).
That would also rule out the kitchen being in a straight line with the dining area opening out to the right (like in the picture appears it might be) because again, the photographer would be standing in a lighted corner, rather than backing up to a dark space. The only way this could be right is if the dining area was on the right but opened up to an entry hall/closet combo. This is still a possibility because this is all just theorizing, but the space in the spoon looks to be quite deep, like a living space (like in the V-Live, I keep saying that!).
Okay, time to get to the point and present our theory. The photo again:

About the layout: First, omg, I am really bad at proportional drawing so before you throw rocks, let me say that the kitchen is not meant to be that big in proportion to the living space. In the V-Live and in Se*hun’s photo it looks tiny.
We are attempting to prove with this layout that we created that everything in the photo is able to be placed in line with everything we saw in the V-Live, when Jong*in showed us around. We believe we have succeeded.
So there you have it. We believe that it is very possible that Se*hun’s Instagram photo was taken in Kai*soo’s apartment and that Jong*in was the one taking the picture.
Se*hun said that “our hyung” made “us” dinner and the only two members younger than Kyung*soo are Se*hun and Jong*in. Seriously, what more do we need to know to put that together?
We do not claim that our theories are correct, they are theories after all but we feel happy with the outcome.
