What the hell? "I Want You To" is almost at 1,000 hits and it has 111 kudos. Dude, WHAT?? This is so insane to me, like holy shit. I know I don't have any of those folks here to see this, but I hope the energy reaches them, wherever they are. Thank you so much. Truly, from the bottom of my heart. I never could have imagined the silly little (at the time) one-shot I decided to write one night would have become someone's favorite Sun and Moon fic (someone literally said that in the comments, like dude I'm gonna print it out and frame that shit with little gold stars around it omg I tear up every time I think of it).
Fun fact: the idea originally came to me, and I literally just sat alone in my room for a long time, staring at the wall while I replayed the funny little blurp my brain had thrown at me. My husband walked in, saw me doing this, asked if I was alright, and I stared at him and said, "Holy shit, I gotta write something DOWN, I just had the HOTTEST idea." He goes, "Is it about one of your robots?" 😒😆 "HELLO???" (We love that dear man here, he puts up with so much).
All it was, at first, was a flash of imagery: Moon. The Reader. His hands on their waist. That's all it was. But I HAD to expand on that. So for the next few weeks, I tried to widen the picture. And I would get more flashes of ideas. A phrase, a sound, a feeling. Hell, at one point, I thought maybe they would have been dancing beforehand, but I ended up using that idea for one of "TKG:R"'s bonus chapters (minor spoilers, it's for Sun's chapter).
Did I think I would end up writing something so sensual, and somehow so personal? And that it would be liked so much? Absolutely not. I hadn't written something like that since I was uh... too young to be doing so 😒 (not that I even knew what the hell I was talking about anyway). So I certainly hadn't thought of the POSSIBILITY I might even be somewhat GOOD at it. And, of course, I was worried how it might come across, what with "TKG:R" being my primary focus, and how I had mentioned writing bonus chapters for THAT particular story... They are, in fact, written by the way. Finished some time after I started writing Part 1 of "I Want You To". I have no intention of posting them until we are a long ways into the story (in case I need to make adjustments for continuity, as I have a tendency to forget things).
It's funny, I was going to post a screenshot of my original, very rushed notes on Part 1 (as I was frantic to write down my ideas before I forgot them), but I couldn't find them, sadly. I did, however, find my first draft and wow... It is the exact same concept, but it reads completely differently. I enjoy the first draft, but wow, if you thought Moony was a Yappatron-5000 in the final draft... 😆 I had forgotten all about it, but between the major changes in my second draft and then the final, it isn't any wonder where I had gotten some of my "new ideas" from. Evidently, my subconscious mind knew exactly what to do.
Maybe someday I'll have some more folks here to talk to. In case you couldn't tell, I just ADORE talking about my stories. I love when people ask about them, or draw their own conclusions or make theories, HELL, I even like it when they try to figure out what happens next! It's never annoying or a bother to me. It means you're thinking about it. It means you enjoy something I created, enough to turn it over in your mind, to examine it. I hope to continue to improve my writing, to get better at prose and nuance, so that it gives people more to think about and theorize.
Thank you, to every single one of you who's read any of my stories (even my original go at "The King's Gifts", which I ONLY left up because of the number of people really wanted me to leave it so they can go back to it). I treasure each and every one of you. Your support means everything to me, and you all inspire me every day -- not just to create, but to get out of bed and keep trying. I'm chronically ill and some days I'm so lightheaded I can't walk to the restroom without clinging to the walls. You've all made me want to keep going, to keep fighting, to keep creating because it makes me happy.
I want to preface before I say this next thing: I am in a good place. I have a wonderful support system and a great outlook on life right now. But sometimes times get tough and I feel the depression sinking in. With that said, I want you to know you make me not want to give up. YOU make me not want to wallow; YOU make me want to take my meds; YOU make me believe that maybe I CAN get better with time, patience, and this treatment plan.
