Hihi everyone !! I'm back once again to yet again post another stujay themed blog, this one I wanted to share some oneshots / scenarios I had of them for all of the stujay shippers out there !!
1 : During a live call-in show at the local radio station, the MC asks jay and stuart to rate each other's attractiveness on a scale of 1 - 10 ‘just for fun.’ The request puts both men in an uncomfortable position they're secretly dating but have to maintain their ‘just bandmates’ facade on air. Jay gives a mid-range rating, while fans chime in with their own ratings that heavily favor the charismatic frontman over stuart. Stu struggles with his jealousy and feeling reduced to a number, especially when compared to his more popular partner, all while having to perform casual indifference about rating someone he’s actually in love with.

2 : During a live TV or radio interview in the mid-90s, an interviewer asks a crude, invasive question about jay and stuart’s relationship asking : ‘So who's the woman in the relationship ?’ or ‘How do you decide who's on top ?’ reflecting the era's ignorant attitudes toward same-sex couples. Instead of getting defensive or uncomfortable, jay fires back with a perfectly timed, sassy comeback saying : ‘Well, we take turns - kind of like how you take turns between asking stupid questions and breathing through your mouth’ or ‘That's funny, your wife asked me the same thing last night.’ ( Jay does NOT play about his man 😹😹😹😹 )
( These next two are a bit more angsty to change it up a bit since I'm evil like that 😹😹😹 )
3 : After a bitter breakup that nearly destroyed the band, jay and stu make a pact to stay together musically but agree to ‘act like it never happened’ pretending they were never romantically involved. During live performances, this becomes emotionally torturous as they're forced to play the love songs they wrote about each other while maintaining complete emotional distance. Jay performs their most intimate lyrics ones stu knows were written about lazy sunday mornings in bed or their first fight while staring past them like they're invisible. With stu playing basslines they created during their happiest moments together, feeling every note like a memory they're supposed to forget. - ( This is inspired off by that TV girl song so thank you to @/freakysniper for lowkey showing me this song 🤭🤭 )
4 : After their breakup and ‘strangers’ agreement, jason starts bringing a rotating cast of dates to their shows sometimes different people every night. They make a point of introducing these hookups to everyone backstage, including stuart, treating these casual encounters with more warmth and familiarity than they show their ex. Jay would wrap his arm around his date and even go as far to introduce them to the band, saying things like : ‘this is my bassist’ with the same tone they'd use to introduce the sound guy. Meanwhile, He’ll tell his date stories about tour life, share inside jokes with other band members, and act completely comfortable all while stuart stands there being treated like hired help. The real sting comes when jay starts bringing the same hook-up multiple times, introducing them to venue staff and other bands as ‘someone special,’ giving this new person the backstage access and casual intimacy that stuart once had. While Stu has to watch his replacement get the ‘boyfriend’ treatment being brought drinks, getting sweet kisses between songs, being pulled into photos while his relegated to just another guy in the background.
( Okay no more angst because I don't want any blurry eyes at the end of this😹 )
5 : On their day off, jay and stuart spend their lazy afternoon browsing through the cramped aisles of their favorite used record store. They move through the vinyl bins, occasionally sharing a pair of headphones at the listening station to check out interesting finds. Stuart gets excited pointing out intricate bass lines on obscure funk records, while jay discovers new vocal techniques on forgotten soul albums.
6 : In their tiny apartment kitchen, soft jazz plays softly around them during meal preparation that mirrors their musical chemistry. Stuart stands at the counter chopping vegetables, when Jay comes up behind him and wraps his arms around his waist, chin resting on his shoulder. He begins to sway stuart slightly in sync to the music together as stuart continues his prep work, and jay occasionally reaching around to steal tastes or point out ingredients they need. ( These cheesy boys oh my lord 😹😹😹😹 )
7 : Needing a break from upcoming gig stress, stuart and jay drive out to a quieter stretch of beach with just a blanket and some snacks. The two find a spot away from the crowds where they can actually hear the waves over beach radios and kids playing. Jay lies on his stomach reading the latest issue of playboy while he asks stu's opinion of the models while stuart sits beside him blushing and admiring at the sight of jay, absently tracing lazy patterns on his back, circles, figure-eights, sometimes spelling out words just to see if jay can guess them which makes him chuckle and occasionally resting his brown hair on his bare shoulder. The two take turns applying sunscreen, sharing icepops, and point out interesting clouds drifting overhead. The rhythm of waves and the warmth of sun on their skin to keep them company. They might doze off together, wake up to go wade in the water, or just lie there talking about nothing important. ( I also inspired this one off a song by masayoshi takanaka since I love him 🤭🤭🤭 )
Okay that's it ! I actually wrote a lot more on this previously but decided to cut them in the final cut before posting this since I didn't feel like they really 'fit' the way I was going for this if that makes sense, but next time I might add them then !!
