1) SUBCULTURE SAGE - Overly Dead

This is the joint project of two englishmen, young and ripe with talent. Subculture Sounds is a project of various afro-influenced electronic based music. HypeManSage is a local London MC. He has a great track record performing over EDM live at clubs and perfecting the art of free styling. Sage keeps his vocals calm and has an almost meditative confidence that makes you want to hear so much more from this duo. Subculture brings a lot to the table to with a beat thats perfectly crafted for setting the strange scene that is having a D&M (with the speakers) whilst you want to bop around an empty room, knowing all the words, with a bunch of friends in the same place. This Song and union brings together the two in the most fantastically listenable way. Soft Catchy steel drums, warm bass, rolling beat, smooth vocals. What more could you honestly want? 2) Oscar O'Malley - OL' Dirty Snorlax

Oscar O'Malley is from NYC. Oscar O'Malley is part of the new generation of rapper coming through NYC with a love for breakbeat-boombap styles made popular in the 90's. But at the same time he is part of the same generation that are label less. This freedom is exemplified in this track, where he throws his suave style out the window for the incredible thrash and bash of ODB. What initially seems like a parody immediately turns into an homage to the late great Rapper. The song has so much energy its contagious. If you find yourself shouting repetitions of lines whilst admiring the sense of humour that you are being shot with you are not alone. If you find yourself screwing up your face, whilst cal my bopping your head to the beat, you are not alone. Also OScar O'Malley's hair is great fun.

3) Sufjan Stevens - Djohariah

Not many people have a spare 17:03 minutes of their life to give. But once the song is playing you understand that's not what Sufjan is asking. He i asking for 17 minutes of musical freedom, of emotions and for you to do your own thing and see where this fantastic music can take you. I get lost in the fact that Sufjan isn't more widely and openly spoken bout in the highest regards. I will admit that i only starting listening to him about 1 and a half years ago but i fear he will be thrust into greatness posthumously (rant over). Nevertheless this song moves along like any good Blues Based, Psychadelic, Jam band form the 70's. It brings to it a sense of the modern sound incorporating hypnotic choral arrangements, soothing horn sections, emotional drumming (something often missing in bands today) and, Sufjan's Specialty, a dynamic range that Led Zeppelin would be proud of. I can't speak highly enough of this music, to the point where all I'm gong to say now is:

 for your own musical sake, whether it be educationally, pretentiously, egotistically, genuinely or whatever. Listen to this track. His Voice.

4) The Vines - Outtathaway

This song, like the band, Speaks for itself. A classically phrased rock track that is great rock, and definitely one of the stand out tracks on a fantastic album. A song like this is so good because of its impeccable crafting. The driving bass, vocal screams, lyrical content, fun vocal hooks, grungey guitar are all there for a reason. And that reason is to make you get Out of the fucking way.
