For my final textile I tried the weaving on a loom again.
This time I doubled up on the fabric. I salons used wool
When I had finished the weft I decided to add some strips of fabric to the warp to make it into a more tartan like fabric.
For this textile I decided to try weaving on a loom.
I started with twine to make the warp of the weave. I then colour pieces of twine with marker.
I then used strips of red poly Cotten blue polyester and black leatherette to weave in as the weft.
I don’t really like how this one turned out as it’s a very loose weave and I would have liked it a bit tighter.
For this textile I started with a poly Cotten base and the I individually top stitched some strips of red poly Cotten down in a crisscross pattern
I then top stitched strips of white ribbon on top of the red strips.
I then uses a zigzag stitch on top of strips of wool into a couching method.
I find this piece very visually pleasing as well as textural pleasing.
For this textile I started with poly Cotton base.
I then layered up different strips of fabric going in both horizontal and vertical lines.
I then top stitched them down.
I left it loose as to give it a more flowy affect.

Today I worked on experimenting with textiles.
I wanted to make a tartan as the return in my line up quite a bit
First I started with a plastic webbing and began to weave sone wool into to see what it looked like.
I then started weaving different colour wools into it in a strip like pattern.
When I was do doing the horizontal stripes I started to vertical and I could see the pattern starting to form.
I really like this piece as I find it visually interesting and it makes for a nice texture.
Today I worked on the colour ways for the design work I have previously made.
For each line up I use a variety of different colours marketing sure that each look in the line up fit with each other.
For this line up I used a series of greys and reds to tie each look into each other. I experimented with these by using tartans and pin stripes to make the pieces more interesting.
For this line up I experimented with texture by using different materials such as water colours, pencils and markers.
I used these to show the different materials that make up the pieces such as a wool or leather.
This was my final and favourite line up by far.
I focused on incorporating tartans into this and use a maroon as the main colour in this line up.
I think each piece ties into each other really well and I feel that it suits both my muse and my era research.
I worked on making my colour pallet for my collection.
I don’t this by choosing a few photos and bring them into procreation where I could lift the colours from each picture.
I found this to be really helpful as I was able to grab colour that are unique to my muse.
Today I worked on finalising my six look lineup inspired by my muse and the era I have chosen.
I then added a few notes to my designs to indicate what fabrics and materials are being used.
Over the next week we’ll be looking at colour ways.
I still have to pick a season that this look fits. I’m thinking autumn/winter.
I also have to pick a name for this collection but I’m a bit stuck on this one.
On Thursday we talked about sustainability in the fashion world.
We discussed the life of clothes and who the stockholders in theses companies are
We then done a research project about an article of clothing that we had.
My group decided to do it on a late 90s early 2000s corset.
Look into the history of the piece was quite difficult as the shop it was bought in had shut down years ago and not many places stock the brand.
We found out that this piece was made in England buy the company court royal and that the company had been around since the 1800s

Today I reworked some of my mood boards to that I could narrow down the aesthetic of the collection I am designing.
I also work on gathering some era research. I decided to go with 1970s punk focusing mainly on the fashions of Vivienne Westwood, the sex pistols and Jordan (Pamela Rooke) in the late 70s.
I looked trough a few books about Vivienne Westwood in the library as well as watching movies and documentary’s about Westwood and the sex pistols.
Today I gathered a front, back and side image of my muse so that I could trace them and make muse accurate croquis.
I done two separate sheets one with the front back and side and one with just the front.
Today we were tasked with making mood boards from the images we collected over the past week.
In total I ended up with 7 mood boards as well as my croqui board.
I first began by taking a few close up photos of the wall where I had all my images stuck up and them I printed the larger so I could use them as boards.
I them took down my images and chose a singe big image to base my board around, when I had done that I picked other images that gave me the same vibe as the first image as well as picking a makeup look a quote and a colour pallet that went with the board.
Over the past week I’ve been collecting images, a colour pallet and quotes that are both from and remind me of Cruella.
I also gathered front, back and side images of Emma Stone as Cruella so that I could draw body accurate croquis of my muse.
Today we were tasked with bring in second had cloths and draping then on mannequins.
I decided to use suit jackets and ties as they are used in a lot the Cruella costumes.
first I decided to drape two of that jackets around the waist as a skirt. I really liked the shape and structure it gave which reminded me of the silhouette of the garments worn in the Victorian era.
For the second one I wanted to give the illusion of a corset I really liked the silhouette that it presented, I could not figure out what to do with the sleeves of the jacket so I just let them hang and found that I actually liked the dram that it gave the piece.

In fashion we were given the word regenerate and told to pick a muse.
I decided to focus on Cruella DeVill mainly from the 2021 live action movie, I pick Cruella because I’ve always found her to be a huge inspiration to me, especially in the last few years as watching that movie for the first time brought my passion back to life.
I also wanted to bring Vivienne Westwood into this project, I also always had a love for what Vivienne Westwood stood for as well as the impact she’s had on the world.
Artist statement
For this project I decided to explore movement though the wings of all types of animals, through fashion, sculpture and painting.
I wanted to focus on the way they were shaped and the detail within them.
I have always found the concept of wings very intriguing and I always find myself drawn to the story of Icarus. I wanted to show both how fragile and strong wings can be,
I think I achieved this well, by showing the fragility of wings through the detailed paintings I have produced and the strength they also portray through the possible batwings I mead in sculpture and the structure garment I made in fashion.
I really enjoyed this project as I got to focus on ares of the arts that interest me, I got to try new media and was pushed out side of my comfort zone to help me explore a wider area.
