Handmade Sketchbooks
I used sketchbooks that I created during a sketchbook making workshop. I sketched the people around me in the smoking area and also various things from a trip to Lahinch that we went on.

Gesture Drawing
4 April 2022
For this class, we focused on being loose with our drawings, not worrying about any details but looking at the shape and mass.
We used the side of a charcoal stick.
This is my favourite sheet because I was more warmed up and I feel like I was able to capture the weight and shape of the model more accurately in some of the drawings.

Life Soc Live Music Drawings
My friends were playing for Life Drawing Society that I attended. It was really nice to be able to listen to them play and draw them at the same time.
Mark Making ii
5 April 22
We did further mark making with other created tools, found objects etc.
However, I was feeling unwell so I didn't really push myself to try a lot of different techniques.
I did however enjoy using string to create these pieces.
I really like that you can create solid, straight lines with the string yet when you fold it in paper, twist it, twirl it, move it - it can create abstract shapes.
I also wrapped string around a twig and enjoyed using a rolling technique to put paint on the paper.
Cecilia Danell
21MAR22
I attended a lecture by Swedish artist, Cecilia Danell, based in Galway.
Danell spoke about her methods and various exhibitions she has taken part in. Something that stood out most was that she does a lot of research and gathers information about her home and her trips back to Sweden, and brings this back to Galway with her wear she paints in her studio.
Another thing is she will make sculptures to accompany paintings in exhibition spaces which I thought was really intes
Mark Making
22 March 22
I did a mark making workshop with Eoin where we went outside and around the college and found objects that we could make marks with.
I found some twigs and branches that I used and also took some scrap fabric that I secured to the end of a stick that I think gave a nice effect.

I really like everyone's pieces hung up at the end.
Gesture Drawing
I participated in the gesture drawing workshop with Eoin.
We did various activities including 30 second poses, non dominant hand, blind drawings and 5 and 10 minute drawings.
I was surprised with the results of my non dominant hand and in some way prefer the results as they are much looser.

Project Statement Movement
My three elective choices are painting, animation and ceramics.
I started my project focusing on the movement of water and liquids.
My project naturally shifted more towards the movement of everyday things with a focus on water, such as, showering, making a cup of tea...etc
I began with animation which was rather challenging for me as I wasn't sure how to combine it with my other electives. However, I enjoyed using the stop motion technique as I could use this in conjunction with painting.
With painting, I began to heavily focus on the texture of heavily focused on the movement within texture which was mostly evident through my painting using impasto.
I approached ceramics with lots of uncertainty in beginning but I realised that rather than making big 3d sculptures, I much preferred trying to transfer my painting techniques to the clay. My paintings were described as organic and clay with itself being an organic material, it excited me to combine the two.
Overall I think I tied my electives together fairly well and I enjoyed the project.
Digital Animation
Made in procreate
I started this early on and it depicts the beginning of a morning routine but gone strange
I would have liked to add audio but unfortunately did not have access to my pc and found it difficult to do so without it.

Ceramics Face Gif
I made a simple gif out of the 3 phases of my ceramic face tile;
Before firing,
after firing,
after glazing.

Finished / Glazed Ceramics
Here is a collection of my finished ceramic pieces. I decided to glaze some and not the rest.
I was particularly happy with this one as I used a blue glaze instead of the normal clear one. It also has a slight crackle effect.
I decided not to glaze these as I liked how they looked and didn't want the brown clay to go darker and the grey tone to turn black.
Finally, I decided to glaze one of the portraits just to see how the glaze would react. I preferred it before it was glazed.
Claymation
As my project is coming to an end, I was determined to make a claymation of sorts.
I wanted to use plasticine to build up a face and have the texture be prominent as my project has focused a lot on textures and specifically painting impasto.
A water droplet falls on the face and it crumbles away.
I am not very happy with the result as I have a lot of varying lights and shots that made it less consistent. However, I have learned that for next time.
