Project Statement:
For my story project in animation I chose to base my work off of Skulduggery Pleasant, a fictional book series. I began to draw character designs and then created 3D models of the settings. I designed storyboards to help me develop a further understanding of the setting and characters. I then made 2 dioramas based on the story.

Concept drawing for my diorama which I drew with marker. I decided to go with the first scene because I felt it was more dramatic and visually appealing

I was trying to create a detective/noir atmosphere with the grainy footage and black and white filter.
I played the piano and added wind sound effects. I also managed to convince my sister to voice act the scream, I voice acted the burglar shouting. The set was made with card and I used plants from my garden to add greenery

A setting I drew on Krita for my animation based on skulduggery pleasant

I decided to use the Skulduggery Pleasant, a book series I adored when I was younger as inspiration for my animation âstoryâ project. These are drawings I created on Krita based on the descriptions of the characters Skulduggery and Valkyrie. I gave Skulduggery a red tie as I felt it made the upper drawing more eye catching.

An animation I created today based on fate and destiny.
I wanted to depict an invisible string which guides the character in this animation to his destiny. It is believed in Chinese folklore that there is an invisible string tied to the little finger of each person which is connected to their true love. I was mostly inspired by lyrics from Taylor Swiftâs song âinvisible stringâ which say:
âAll along there was some invisible string tying you to meâ
I thought this was a beautiful concept portraying destiny so I created this animation and composed a piece of music for the background which consists primarily of string instruments. I chose to make the string bright to make it pop out and contrast with the blue tones.

Project Statement - Movement
Electives: Animation, painting and graphic design
In response to movement I have been looking at how there is movement in music, as I believe that music is very energetic and I am a musician who is very interested in the topic.
Initially I began looking at how people can be moved by music emotionally.
I then started exploring the body language of musicians and how they move while playing their instruments.
I created an animation story where the main character plays an instrument which moves the plot forward.
I explored soundwaves and audio patterns which represent the movement of music.
I then created animations where I recorded myself playing the piano to show how the music I played moved simultaneously with the plot of the animations.
A few music themed logos I created. I wanted to work with marker so I used it for these logos. I used some curved and abstract shapes to represent the energy and abundance of movement in music. I was very inspired by Bojan Oreskovicâs musician logo:
I was very fond of this simplistic style and used this inspiration to create my own logos
