With a summer breeze 

cooling down my knees i feel so at ease

This brings to my attention that cows were in a position to break out and weren’t naturally able to explore as they please outside of their assigned field.

And all the calves she had had came running from afar.

They gathered around her and with one final plaintive cry, she and her calves turned clockwise once and disappeared from the land.

The word used for Gaibhlean’ scary was often diadhánach which is the lonely bellowing of a cow bereft of her calf.
