Joker laughed and moved with Jayce, leaning in to press a soft kiss to her lips. “I’m glad. I really wanted tonight to be special.”

“Like you really have to try?” she mumbled against his lips. Unerringly, those pale fingers of hers went up and stroked Joker’s beard with a goofy smile on a certain goofy Paragon’s face. “I love you, sweetheart.”

“I love you too,” Joker replied, a small smile on his face. He pressed his forehead to hers and wrapped his arms around her briefly. “All right, I’m driving. Let’s go. Our reservation is soon.”

“Gonna be a real treat for both of us. I even got whipped cream for the occasion.”

Jayce snickered and tugged Joker closer by the front of his shirt. “Okay, okay, mister. You’ve sufficiently intrigued me.”

“Waiting for this lucky lady to get her ass ready to go. I’m gonna take her out to a nice dinner before I bring her back and treat her to… dessert.”

“Hmmmmm. Better be damned fine dessert if you’re making her hurry up.”

“Yeah, she’s pretty spectacular. Best woman I’ve ever met. She’s strong, and drop dead gorgeous, and she’s all mine.”

“Damn. Lucky lady. What are you doing standing around here for then?”

“Waiting for this lucky lady to get her ass ready to go. I’m gonna take her out to a nice dinner before I bring her back and treat her to... dessert.”

“Must be an exceptional lady, if you’ve married her and are so anxious to get out there with her.”

“Yeah, she’s pretty spectacular. Best woman I’ve ever met. She’s strong, and drop dead gorgeous, and she’s all mine.”

“Jeff!” Jayce laughed softly and lightly tapped the pilot’s shoulder. “We do that, we’ll never make our reservation.”

“I didn’t mean right now,” Joker insisted. “I just mean in general.”

“Really? Last time I wore a dress, I killed a lot of people…”

“Minor details. You still look great in that dress. I’d like to see you out of it, too.”
