Can you surf?
"No. I've never tried. I could probably figure it out, though."
It was late evening and the sun was lying in the sky, orange clouds clinging around. The Duck Pond had emptied out of visitors for the day, except for Juvenal who had stayed on after his shift there had ended. Sitting alone, staring off into the water had become a pastime of his, but, there was something extra enjoyable about doing so here. He had a claim to this pond, he cared for it and protected it. In a small sense, it was his.
Hearing a rustle from nearby foliage, he stayed where he was, but, kept a conscious ear out for just who happened to be nearby, and where exactly they were coming from. As they got closer, an anxiety washed over him, feeling the urge to make the effort to look round. Though, they were practically immediately quashed as he came to look upon Noah. A familiar face, and one of the more welcome.
"Trying to sneak up on me?" He asked, a small smile tugging at the very edge of his features. "You'll have to do better than that. I heard you a mile off." He looked him over, admiring the way he presented himself. "What are you doing out here this late anyway? I didn't have you down as a fly-fisher."

OPEN STARTER for @fenrirswoodstarters location ; THE NEW & IMPROVED BEACH FRONT
Bodhi was surprised to find that the Full Moon had gone without any trouble, nothing had happened, nobody had been hurt - aside of course from the usual injuries on people that were usually only Werewolves of Witches - and no new people had gone missing either. As a direct result, Bodhi's spirits were lifted too. Seeing the renewed beach front - with a lot more concrete, which sad - and the British way of celebration, made him feel a pang of nostalgia for Brighton. Though Fenrir's Wood wasn't at the sea, and it didn't seem to have the funds to create Brighton's beach front.
Thus, from looking at the graffiti that was on the new walls - definitely clad down the evening before - the citizens also agreed: Lake Side it said in different fronts.
The PI raised an eyebrow. "I wonder if this was made on commission or if the youth saw a brand new clean canvas and decided it needed to be filled asap."
Juvenal had no nostalgic memories when it came to beaches and beach fronts. Having grown up in Keswick, he'd been too far inland to walk to any and with there being lakes and hiking trails in much closer proximity, he'd spent his days checking out what they had to offer instead. Beaches were very much rooted in Juvenal's adult life. Places he'd stopped on his travels to rest or get an easy meal when things were crowded. He didn't associate them with 'fun' of any kind. Just a stop along the way. Fenrir's recreation was no different, providing little more than a small resting spot where he could take a step aside from the busier streets
"It was probably started with good intentions. Most things usually are." He chirped up, glancing over at the wall the stranger was referring to. He'd never tried his hand at graffiti, but, he knew had the opportunity arose, he'd likely have given the community very little thought, especially when he was a teenager. "What is it, anyway? A lot of colours and smudges, but, I'm not really seeing anything." He squinted, pretending his problem came from not being close enough to fully see, rather than the truth of the matter being his inability to read. "I think it's good kids are painting, keeps them out of trouble."
OPEN STARTER for @fenrirswoodstarters location ; BEACH FRONT
Topher could still remember the chaos of the year before, when the police had been all over this place, and how the side of the river had been sealed off for weeks until well into the summer. Mostly because the Swimming Pool had been filled to the brim with kids who couldn't take a dip in the river.
Now the place was far more modern than it had been before. It looked like one of those beaches from the television: like California.
They were in a bathing suit: the longest pants they could find - which fell to their knees - with an orange and blue flower pattern, and an oversized UV shirt.
And they were shivering. "The water is SO COLD," they told any bystander who needed to be persuaded from not going in.
Juvenal wasn't much a fan of the water in practise. He couldn't swim particularly gracefully and beyond fishing, found it to be more trouble than it was worth. However, he liked the background noise it provided and had spent just about as long as he could remember curled up staring off into some body of water out there. Whether he was eight, staring into the water as he grieved and sniffled over his first broken bone, or twenty eight, pondering inwardly just where exactly his life was going, water remained the visual backdrop to his mental wool gathering.
He flinched as the other's complaining brought him out of his own head, taking a quick moment to look around and figure out what exactly had caught his attentions, a brow raised slowly as he tried not to smirk at the others misfortune. "Is that a surprise to you?" He asked, not trying to be rude, but, more thinking aloud. "It doesn't really get any better until around mid-summer. From experience? The best thing to do is just jump in and get it over with. It still sucks, but, it sucks for less time than if you go in slowly."

CLOSED STARTER for @juvenal location ; Fork's Road roads
Helia was always trying to better the community, she simply couldn't turn a blind eye on people who were struggling. And she knew most people didn't really show they were. But the Werewolf she'd managed to convince to come with her to Fork's Road and find the soup kitchens, could not hide away from her command of the spirits. They buzzed around her and informed her of his situation, of an empty stomach and need for water.
Of course Fenrir's Wood didn't openly promote that it had plenty of safety nets in place for people in need. (Especially the homeless due to possible Werewolf attacks). Fork's Road was the place to be however, with the cheapest housing prices there was enough room for small business like this.
She smiled back at Juvenal. "Most businesses that hand out free food are in this neighbourhood," she started to explain. "There are also food boxes if you're low on food, you just have to sign up on a sheet, but you don't have to prove that you don't have money to buy food," she continued.
The more Juvenal listened to Helia's tips and tricks for surviving in Fenrir's Wood, the more he was coming to find himself grateful for having taken a chance at living in Fork's Road. Having come from nothing, with nowhere to be, going anywhere at all had felt like a step forward. Although, he'd quickly come to learn that it wasn't quite that simple, with his wages covering little more than his rent and the bare essentials.
It was a world foreign to him and one he'd had precious little preparation for, and so her 'on the job' training was quietly extremely appreciated. "It's strange to me that they just do that. Hand out free food, I mean." Had he been in better standing, he likely wouldn't have trusted it. But, he was desperate enough to take the risk. "I knew about places putting out bad food at the end of the day, but, not good stuff. It sounds a little suspicious, does it not? I mean, why wouldn't they just sell it?"
Hey, isnât that JUVENAL FIORENTINO. I thought they went away for the summer? Did you hear they might be a WEREWOLF? What I do know for certain is that theyâre 28, and theyâre RESOURCEFUL and SELF-SERVING. Theyâre originally from KESWICK, ENGLAND, and have been in FENRIRSWOOD for THREE WEEKS living in FORKâS ROAD. I wonder if they still work at DUCK POND as a CARETAKER. Best if they stay safe for now.
