Former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin defeated 78-year-old Rep. John Larson.
Kevin Robillard at HuffPost:
Former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin easily knocked off incumbent Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.) in a primary in Connecticut on Tuesday night, becoming the fourth challenger this year to defeat a significantly older incumbent Democrat in a primary. While never specifically saying the 78-year-old Larson was too old for the job, Bronin suggested a new approach was needed and implied Larson was out of touch after serving in Congress for 28 years. But while the other successful primaries for generational change this cycle involved millennial candidates who are members of the Democratic Socialists of America, Bronin is a 47-year-old mainstream liberal. Bronin, a Rhodes Scholar who served two terms as mayor, also worked in President Barack Obama’s Treasury Department and did a tour of Afghanistan as a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve. With the help of the super PAC VoteVets, which backs Democratic veterans for office, he was able to outspend Larson and his allies on television ads. But his comparatively conventional ideology ― he still backs Medicare for All and abolishing ICE ― and elite background did not prevent him from capitalizing on Democratic voters’ anger at the party establishment following the political failures of President Joe Biden, who planned to run for a second term in office as an octogenarian.
The CT-01 House Democratic primary featured a decisive win for challenger Luke Bronin against entrenched incumbent John Larsen.
Unlike most primaries we’ve seen this year, this is one that is not on ideological grounds but on entrenched incumbent v. fresh face.
NEW: Sen. Alex Padilla of California leads 27 fellow Senate Democrats in a letter warning the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security that any effort directing states covered by the National Voter Registration Act to do mass voter purges now would violate the 90-day “quiet period” before November’s Election Day
In case anyone is inclined to think "But the administration will just cheat" and despair:
YES, the administration is trying to pull shady shit everywhere they can. And EVERY TIME they are challenged and go to court, they lose. Losing is what they do best.
Fuck republicans and their cheating. Keep fighting back!
the late senator graham and i disagreed on pretty much everything, but credit where it’s due. this quote of his is an all-timer:
it’s arguably the most honest thing that anyone has said in politics.

We keep learning that the price tag for is going up and up, even as the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals told him he can’t keep building his br
Americans are having difficulties paying for food, fuel, housing, and medical care. But Trump is using taxpayer money to build kitschy monuments to himself.
Speaking at MS NOW, Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky says that the first order of business for the next Democratic president should be to "detonate" the Trump ballreoom.
I totally agree that it should be torn down but it should be done in a more methodical way. Victims of ICE, the Trump-Epstein scandal, and Trump's political prosecutions should be given the opportunity to take ceremonial swings at it with picks and sledgehammers.
Also, liens should be placed on all properties of the Trump crime family until they have paid for the cost of the physical damage they've caused and the cost of replacement and restoration.
Keep in mind that gutless Capitol Republicans have let Trump do all this. They should be held accountable in the midterms. Election Day is 82 Days from today.
Treasury Department and Justice Department are now The Department of Money Laundering.
Long gone from their home in San Francisco, the California pipevine swallowtail is back thanks to one man transforming his yard into a habitat for them The iridescent blue wings of the California pipevine swallowtail are considered by collectors to be among the most magnificent in North America. For centuries …
As the California pipevine plant was displaced from San Francisco by urban sprawl, the California pipevine swallowtail, which relies on the pipevine plant to feed its caterpillars, also disappeared. That is, until a biologist named Tim Wong made it his mission to repopuplate the species in his own backyard.
Armed only with a cutting of California pipevine from the San Francisco Botanical Garden, Tim created a screened in butterfly enclosure in his backyard and began to reproduce California pipevines.
As new butterflies were born, Tim would donate them to the San Francisco Botanical Gardens where their pipevine host plant could still be found.
“At first he brought them in by the hundreds. Now he brings them in by the thousands every few months.”
While most of us don’t have the power to create habitat for endangered rhinos or tigers, anyone with a little bit of outdoor space can help create habitat for endangered insects!
You can:
-plant a pollinator garden with native nectar-producing plants
-plant host plants of local butterfly species
-leave piles of fallen leaves or sticks in your yard as habitat for native bees
-avoid using pesticides (or use them as sparingly as possible) around your home and yard
“Improving habitat for native fauna is something anyone can do. Conservation and stewardship can start in your very own backyard.” -Tim Wong

Immigration is just the label used to hide their racism.
You’ve gotta vote peeps. It’s literally the only political power we still have left, and they’re trying to take that away as well.
