honestly I hate when people say I overreact when I get a low B or a C on a math test. I study so hard and I never get the grades that reflect that. when I say that my parents are going to kill me, they would literally kick me out of the house if I told them I got a C. people think I'm over exaggerating and my parents "won't be mad" but it's happened more that once. people with white parents don't understand how difficult it is when your parents are obsessed with grades, since they immigrated to the U.S. for my education just before I was born. my father went to an Ivy League school, even though he had no access to technology and English was not his first language. He has these high expectations of me to receive straight A's in school where I take all G/T and AP classes and play on my high school sports team. I have a C in math and I have no idea what to do, interims come in next week and my parents will literally send me back to their home country if they see I have a C.
