You had that same look in your eyes

Was it casual when we held hands right before we thought we would die? When I wanted to feel your soft fingers intertwined with mine one last time?

Was it casual when you hallucinated me right before you were about to freeze to death? When your last words were that you didn’t want to leave me yet?

The summer before the plane crash, Laura Lee and Lottie spent their days together in secret.

They would spend hours talking and basking in the sun, their cheeks rosy as they lay on the grass.

Lottie and Laura Lee mean so much to me. As a girl who grew up in a Catholic household where God is always mentioned, you feel that guilt of being different and not being able to tell your family, will they stop loving me if the person I truly love is a girl? all these questions take over my mind every single night.

For me Lottielee represents the strength and innocence of love, the first look of love, the first time holding someone’s hand, and finally being able to feel that so-called love spark. There are many things they represent to me.
