Let’s be real, Beignets are a gift from the divine. They also happen to be the one and only food item Café du Monde serves (beyond coffee and other beverages 🧐). The historic French Quarter staple has had plenty of time to perfect the formula for almost 160 years since its founding in 1862. As you can imagine, These didn’t last 10 minutes. A block away from our hotel, the #royalsonesta , and the madness that is Bourbon St. exists the comparatively sleepy Royal St. where we discovered #brennansnola and a delicious (and well-plated) brunch. The well-lit dining room of the restaurant lied parallel to a beautiful courtyard with a water feature that surprisingly had live turtles on the premises. I recently went to a chef’s tasting event at @blackbarnrestaurant where chef John Doherty served up a delectable 5-course menu with wine pairings. The duck breast pastrami and lobster poached in vanilla butter were standouts for me.
