Chidwell Miller (1921) depicting the the evolution of uniforms for the Royal Flying Corps and the earliest uniforms of the Royal Air Force during and immediately after World War I. Note: Fig. 1/4. The first RAF blue uniforms, the light grey-blue cloth produced for all-ranks in 1918 seen here on the Airman in No.1 Dress and the officer in his 'British Warm' short coat. The colour was not popular and replaced by the now familiar Blue-Grey still worn today in 1919. Fig. 3.
