Just Ex-Muslim Things

Muslims hate you. Pro-Islam people hate you because you're considered Islamophobic. Anti-Islam people hate you either because they assume you're Muslim or because they're racists who conflate race/ethnicity with religion.

Looking into the camera like you’re in the office whenever a Muslim (that don’t know you’re exmoose)says some crazy barbaric shit you can’t respond to.

Staying up all night thinking about how you want to tell off the Muslim community that marginalized you 🙃🙃

Hiding all your artwork and working in secret because drawing people and other living things is considered haram

You sometimes still catch yourself whispering “Bismillah” before doing something and it makes you cringe

Feeling like an angsty teen even when you’re an adult, because you have to hide every aspect of your life from your parents

Hearing the Athan puts you in fight-or-flight mode

Constantly being told that hijab is a choice while your lived experience as a Muslim woman who never had a choice is ignored

Being called Islamophobic scum because you're critical of an ideology under which you suffered years of direct abuse

Still feeling guilty when eating/drinking with your left hand because it feels wrong

Referring to your partner as a “good friend” when mentioning them around your family

People always seem reluctant to serve you pork, even though you’ve never mentioned that you can’t eat it

Blocking/limiting your entire family on all your social media accounts

People assuming you’re Muslim because of your name

Hi everyone! This is a new blog I made because I'm a fan of those "Just [Whatever] Things" blogs since they usually have a good mixture of funny and serious posts and they're good for venting and coping. I'm not sure if other people are even interested in this sort of thing, but I figured I'd put this out there and if it picks up, that's great! Would appreciate if some popular Ex-Muslim blogs would reblog this to spread the word!
