Day 1 of playing Animal Crossing New Horizons:

Shari is one of my first villagers.

In an old youtube playthrough of New Leaf by Chuggaaconroy it was estabished that she was apparently a murderer with a dark past.

I started off my game thinking that I should set those views aside and start this relationship fresh.

This was my first mistake.

Not even a few hours unto my game she dropped that she felt excited getting away on an deserted island and it was a decision she made out of the blue. I would have thought nothing of it if she had not told me immediately after that she felt like a runaway criminal.

I was already squinting a little at that, but maybe it was just a coincidence. How high was the possibility that Nintendo would make her dialog options as unsettling as in New Leaf?

Apparently very high, because what happened not soon after I crossed paths with her again she told me that she had not felt that excited ever since she was a gang member. To which she quickly interrupted herself saying that she should not tell me this much about her past, showing the anxiously sweating animation.

Because it’s Super Bowl Sunday.
