i think her accident at the start of season three was such a rushed plot line which didn't do anything but speed up her breakup. she was just used for plot which is such a shame >;(

i think gigi wouldn't even know about regression until after her accident. even then , she'd have such trouble trying to navigate her own mental health afterwards , all these new anxieties she has. i think it would've left her more scarred than the show let on. maybe i will write something up one day if i don't get scared and give in.

This I can do!! I love little Baran and am so glad so many of you do too!!! Please ignore that I made Baran like mainly British cartoons. Sadly I am #british and it's all I know. I'm hoping to write more little!Baran stuff too, and am thinking of trying to write her with other caregivers... Even though I'm kinda bad at it.

“ More Little Baran Headcannons! ”

Little!Baran is a big fan of routines. They give her a sense of comfort to know exactly what to expect at any given moment. Especially given the usually unexpected nature of her regression.

Little!Baran loves being read to. Storytime with her caregiver is her favorite part of the night, and often during the day she'll approach her caregiver, tug on their sleeve and hold out whatever book she wants read to her.

Little!Baran prefers softer, less chaotic cartoons. She appreciates things like Bluey but the noise and bright colours are abit too much for her. She prefers gentler cartoons, some of her favorites are Octonauts, Get Well Soon, and Max and Ruby.

Little!Baran reflects reality through the games she plays. She doesn't really do stuff like make her toys be superheros. She does make her toys be doctors, either in a hospital or out in places that resemble her time in Kabul. Or she'll replay things from her childhood and such. This also means that every once in awhile, her caregiver finds her playing out a scene where one of her toys is being yelled at by an older toy because they ‘aren't competent’ or ‘are unfit to be there’.

Little!Baran likes parallel play more than actively playing with others. If she is regressed around other littles or other people in general, you'll often find her sat off to the side doing her own thing, but still happily watching or listening to whatever other people are doing.

This also means that sometimes when the adults are all having conversations, you can find Baran sat down by her caregivers feet, playing quietly by herself while her caregiver strokes her hair.

Speaking of hair, Little!Baran really, really loves having her hair played with or done for her. She finds it comforting and it helps her feel small and safe. She also really likes being sung too, it makes her feel extra small.

Little!Baran is very shy and struggles to make friends with the other littles. But she finds it easier to hang out with Mel or Joy or other quieter, more laid back littles who don't mind that she doesn't want to play loud games and takes awhile to get her words out.

Little!Baran does like having out with the pets though. She absolutely loves it, in fact. The loudest you'll hear her being is when she's playing with the pets. You can hear her laughter from rooms away.

Little!Baran loves animals as a whole, actually. She once went to the zoo with some people from the Pitt, and now her and her caregiver make frequent trips, because she loves spending hours watching all the animals, even if they're just doing something as mundane and resting.

Little!Baran who doesn't like getting messy. She gets upset if she even gets marker on her hand while colouring (she now uses exclusively coloured pencils).

Little!Baran who shows affection for people by drawing them pictures. She isn't particularly good, sure, but first of all, she's like 3,and secondly, it's the sentiment that matters more. She'll wordlessly toddle over to her person of choice, tug gently on their sleeve and hold up the picture with a shy little smile. It makes everyone melt.

Little!Baran who was given a friendship bracelet by Victoria and now cherishes it so, so much because it was the first gift she got while little that wasn't from her caregiver.

Little!Baran who does, infact, get distracted by baby sensory videos. And all of those sensory videos; slime, clay, magnets, it doesn't matter, Baran is SAT. You will not see her move for hours.

listens to jack's war stories ("another paba!!" dennis shouts. jack grits his teeth with an awkward inhale, trying to remember a non-violent story for the bright eyes boy in front of him)

Emma and Trinity becoming close friends had been unexpected by everyone, including their caregivers. But the moment they regressed around eachother, it was like a moth to flame, those two.

Emma is shy and very sensitive, and gets upset easily. Trinity calms down her usually chaotic and explosive games so that Emma can enjoy them too. “‘s okay. we can play quiet explorers. Can show y’u only th’ pretty bugs, none with lotsa legs!”

Trinity knows that Emma is smaller than her, and therefore has adopted her as a little sister. She will do anything for her little sister. “hey! knock it off! she's only little you fu— (glances at Emma) stupid face!”

Emma who sees Trinity as her big sister just as much. “Hey Emmy, whatcha colouring?” “‘s a pic’re f’r Trinny! She ‘m big sissy.”

Trinity who takes the fact she's usually a couple years older than Emma very seriously. “nuhuh, Emmy, fingers are yucky. Lemme find your paci. (Turns towards where Dana is sat supervising) Dee! Where th’ baby's paci!”

Emma who gives Trinity her stuffed animals to cuddle if Trinity is upset. Because Trinity doesn't have many of her own.

Emma who makes them friendship bracelets. Trinity who wears it all the time, even when big.

Emma who will follow Trinity's example. Leading to some funny situations. “An’ you c’n hav a cookie. An’ you. An’ you. Bu’ no’ you Mr. Frankie. Caus’ Trinny says you mean.” (she ended up giving him a cookie later because she felt bad, but it was hilarious in the moment)

Trinity who sometimes can't handle being touched when little, and gets overwhelmed very easily. Emma who will sit next to her instead, playing quietly so they can spend time together without making things worse.

Trinity who grew up going to gymnastics competitions so she now can braid Emma's hair even when she's wriggling and squirming like a little menace.

Emma who includes Trinity in her family portraits. Even when it doesn't include anyone else from work. “Why ‘m I there?” “‘Cause you family, Trinny!”

Trinity who loves her little sister more than anything in the world.

Dennis typically regresses between 1–3 years old, most often settling somewhere between an older baby and a young toddler.

When regressed, Dennis becomes noticeably clingier than usual. He tends to seek out familiar people for comfort and reassurance, often staying close to those he trusts most.

Super sleepy and he falls asleep in weird places.

Stuffed animals are one of his biggest sources of comfort. He becomes deeply attached to them and often carries one around whenever possible. He has the biggest stuffed animal army, they take up like 80% of his bed.

His stuffed animals all have names and personalities. He gets offended if someone mixes them up.

Ipad kid.

He's more likely to hide when upset than talk about what's bothering him. One time Robby lost him for 30 minutes.

Dennis has a tendency to bring things to Robby for approval without realizing he's doing it. A drawing, a plushie, a snack, a cool rock he found, he'll just hold it up expectantly until Robby acknowledges it, then look absurdly pleased with himself.

Dennis always wants Robby to try the first bite of whatever he's eating. It doesn't matter if Robby has had it a hundred times before, Dennis still holds it out expectantly like it's the most important taste test in the world.

The movie had ended nearly twenty minutes ago.

Robby noticed long before Dennis did.

The plushie in Dennis' lap had slipped sideways, one small hand still tangled in its fur. His eyes kept drifting shut only to blink open again a few seconds later.

"You tired, buddy?"

Dennis shook his head immediately.

A yawn interrupted him halfway through.

Robby smiled.

"Mhm."

Another minute passed.

Then two.

Then, without a word, Dennis shifted closer.

Not all at once. Just inch by inch until he was tucked against Robby's side, warm and sleepy.

Robby draped a blanket over him.

Dennis made a quiet, content sound and curled in further, clutching both the plushie and a fistful of Robby's sleeve.

Within minutes, his breathing had evened out.

Robby glanced down.

Fast asleep.

The sleeve remained firmly trapped in Dennis' hand.

"...Yeah, that's about right."

not when baran becomes her caregiver. baran notices every time trinity gets one, gets a little more subdued than she is already, expression twisting a little with the ache. she knows it makes her girl feel unpleasantly adult again, in that halfway space between inner child and grown-up that's so difficult, so raw and hurting. the tears make headaches worse, and it just breaks baran's heart to watch.

so she learns how to prevent it. she's quick to tug her girl into her lap and coo soft, (there you go, come here..) pressing gentle kisses to her head. she helps trinity swallow little pills, drink some water, praising her for being able. (good job, sweetie!)

she takes trinity to bed, curls up with her. it's soft and warm, the room dimmed and the mattress easy to sink into, baran's fingers rubbing lightly at trinity's temples when she rests her head on mama's stomach. it keeps her all fuzzy and safe, kept and held. the ache in her temples starts to subside and the crisis is averted, no halfway regression or hiccupy tears. just warmth. just the quiet bliss of being taken care of for once.
