My middle school gave you detention if you didn’t turn in your homework on time did I ever tell y’all about that
at mine if u were late for more than 6 days in a semester (not in a row, just 6 total) you got detention. crazy
I'll probably stand alone with this but if facing consequences for not doing the most basic things to be a reliable person, like being on time and doing your work, is considered crazy nowadays, let's just say that explains a lot.
(And no, I won't add obvious exceptions here, because I believe in the existence of common sense. If you want to get me wrong, that's on you.)
There’s already the consequences of getting a bad grade. When adults are late getting their stuff in at job they don’t get put in baby jail. They just face normal social and professional consequences of their actions. Why is it acceptable to add afternoon jail on top of the regular consequences when the person is twelve?
Hey so, fair point. Obviously our life experiences don't match. I don't know detention as any kind of jail. Also, I do know work consequences that are absolutely not just social. You can and will get fired for being late repeatedly without valid excuse. I also hear often enough about consequences that are not valid, no pissing on your leg intended.
I don't see that grades are a direct consequence when it comes to being able to stick to a given frame of expectations. They can relate a lot on your ability to self organize your responsibility for your own success. Whether that should be encouraged more at a younger age is another discussion.
