Love in Star Trek when there’s a character who’s regularly anywhere but their station. In TNG it’s Data being in engineering (he wants to see Geordi), in ds9 it’s Julian being in ops (he wants to gossip), and in TOS it’s Bones being on the bridge (he wants to instigate and be close to the drama).

to be clear, I love both deeply. but star trek vs star wars is such a stupid conversation for so many reasons. if we're entertaining the comparison and even talking just romantic ships in fandom, star trek crushes star wars under its starfleet issued boots. 75% of all star wars romance is like "two people who hate each other stood next to each other on screen for a millisecond too long, and now we have five hundred thousand fics about what it would be like if they were entirely different people who actually liked each other," and 75% of all star trek romance is "two people who would find each other in any lifetime, whose relationship transcends romantic or physical into a whole new definition of love and devotion."

it's crazy how by writing q and picard tng perfectly predicted the relationship between a tumblrina and a blorbo. like yeah here is this emotionally constipated middle aged man and the omnipotent homosexual who wants nothing but to put this guy in fucking Predicaments. also the omnipotent homosexual is considered a weirdo by his peers. he is also unemployed. that's a big plotpoint actually

thinking about the potential of tecteun as a character to be discussed if the fandom didn't hate the timeless children so much because she's so. interesting. Like picture tecteun vivisecting and torturing her own child to understand regeneration...the craziest experiments you can imagine. And the doctor just laid there and took it, dying over and over and over and over again. I wonder how many times she regenerated. I wonder if she had any say in the matter. I wonder what level of manipulation it took from tecteun to have the doctor stay still and look at her "mother" kill her a hundred times and again
