LUZRIEL CONFIRMED. 🦊🦇
made a very serious "checking back in with the ACOTAR fandom in August 2026" moodboard
What are your favourite Jurian hcs?
god, I have so many.
as much as I love making fun of Jurian for having grandpa energy (and personally love DILFy Jurian interpretations,) I've always pictured him as tragically young. like mid to late 20s when he died. I headcanon that he was a young man during the initial human rebellions and ended up a general of the human armies at a fairly young age just because he was mean and pragmatic enough to survive the slaughter of the early years of the rebellion before the Fae began to ally with the rebels and it became a full scale war.
Jurian and Rhys were actually pretty close during the War and this influence had a devastating effect on Rhys's whole personality. search your heart. you know this is true. the constant bragging, the whole "I don't care if it means playing the villain and ruining my own life if my people are safe" shtick, man imprinted on Jurian like a baby duck.
he likes birds. tbh, I didn't even really mean this as a Jassa thing when I first thought of it. I'm just into birdwatching and can say with certainty, Jurian has the energy of someone who can look up and correctly identify any given bird, fae or mundane. it just feels right for his character.
he knows how to sew (good at it), cook (bad at it), and has a decent understanding of field medicine he picked up from spending time with Miryam and the human healers in the war. I can't imagine he has many hobbies because he's fairly single-minded and never had free time to develop them, but he has a vast array of practical skills that would seem a little odd until you realize he spent his entire adult life at war and a lot of these things can be matters of life or death if left neglected and while I think he's more than willing to use the resources at his disposal, he's someone who would rather develop these skills so he can have them in a pinch rather than rely on others to be around to take care of them for him.
I've said it before but Jurian never learned Azriel's name and does not care enough to ask. you cannot convince me otherwise.
he does not have big dick energy. we as a community need to stop saying this. it's just not true. big dick energy and "the dick itself is completely average, but the game is incredible" energy are two very different types of cocky. (pardon the pun.) one is innate and the other is earned, and Jurian has the latter. this is a man who prides himself on skill and we need to honor that.
It’s the “he doesn’t even know me” Elain snaps at Feyre about Lucien in FaS only to be gifted a pair of magical gardening gloves that allows her to do the thing she loves to do the most without risk of getting hurt for me.
It’s the “he doesn’t even know me” only for Cassian to remark the only thing that brings Elain any life in the Hewn City was her pearl comb only for Lucien (who was not present then) to gift her a pair of beautiful pearl earrings the next Solstice for me.
Almost like…..Lucien does know her. And that scares her.

e/riels: four movements is a reference to the Harp which has something to do with Elain somehow.
gwynriels: four movements is a reference to Gwyn and Azriel both being associated with music.
multi-POV truthers: four movements is a reference to the music between mates.
me, who just wants the damn Vassa and Koschei plot already: THE. FIREBIRD. IS. A. BALLET.
🌞On His Knees✨
I really have nothing proper to say about this 🙂 You guys voted for Elucien (this pose was originally for Dean and Allie!).
I hope Lucien is a Grade A+++ yearner in the upcoming ACOTAR books.
Hope you like!
the issue I have with people saying Elain doesn’t “owe” Lucien a conversation to reject him is that it insinuates Lucien had any agency in creating their bond. He didn’t. Neither of them did. It was thrust onto both of them. Elain is not a victim of this bond anymore than Lucien is. They were both put into a complicated situation that neither of them had any control over and now the only way forward is for them to talk about it. They’re not toddlers. They need to have a conversation and, yes, Elain needs to be part of it. She’s an adult. And this sentiment is not anti Elain. “I want Elain to act like the adult that she is” is not anti Elain
jurian probably really enjoyed shooting azriel at hybern's palace
i'm gonna be honest, as much as I love queer readings of Elain (and all the Archeron sisters tbh,) but you simply cannot convince me Elain has the "most repressed" energy out of the sisters when Amren said this gay ass shit to Nesta in one of their first on-paper interactions.
like come on. in a better book, this would have been the beginning of a lesbian romance for the ages.

Characters belong to Sarah J Maas
In honor of last year's post (and the derby today), here's this year ACOTAR characters with the hats they would wear at the Derby.
And in addition...what horses they would bet on.
a lot of men that people online are obsessed with calling daddy are one 'good boy' away from shattering their knees on the ground forgetting their names and panting like dogs. it has to be said.
your daddy dom barks on command.
Here’s my latest opinion on the SJM (lack) of a book announcement- if you still think the reason we don’t know anything yet is for “personal” reasons against fandom or because they’re worried about fandom reactions…I think you genuinely need to get offline and get some air.
I really cannot see any other reason for this absence of info being anything other than capitalism.
All they had to do to create record breaking presale numbers? Throw up one simple post with a mock up image on it.
Publishers are simply figuring out ways to cut back on marketing. I knew it the second I saw Rebecca Yarros do the same move with her latest book announcement. Sarah was the experiment. You’re going to see this with more names, I guarantee it. Before this, publishers allocated hefty budgets for their Big Name Authors. Marketing is usually 10-20% of book production costs. Probably more for their best seller SJM. But with one single post, they proved they don’t need that. They don’t need an elaborate marketing campaign with a name like Sarah J Maas. They don’t need designers. They don’t need PR and social media publicity. They don’t need to be constantly posting to build momentum. All they needed was an interview and a single image with nearly no information to convince the world to buy it.
And it worked.
They are probably foaming at the mouths over this revelation. It used to be Successful Best Selling Authors + Fuckload of Marketing Money = Millions of Dollars.
Nope. They turned it upside down. Best Selling Author + Little to No Marketing + Mysterious Lack of Info to Keep Them Curious = Record Sales.
It’s a way to generate pre orders, interest, and engagement at little to no cost while probably giving their elite authors more time to edit and write for their deadlines since nothing has to be finalized. I’m sure they’re not complaining about it.
Always follow the money.
This isn’t about you or me or some silly ship war. This isn’t about Elriel or Elucien or Gwynriel. If it was, they’d be selling Team Lucien or Azriel shirts at Target by now. This is about the bottom line. This is about profit and corporate greed and cutting expenses wherever they can (they already have AI reading manuscripts now!!!). The passionate shippers you all keep referring to are tiny little gnats to these corporate giants. They. Don’t. Care.
And what if I said that Elain in canon is not actually that naturally kind and actually shows a lot more self-preservation tendencies that are masked / forgiven by the fact that she complies with the behavior everyone expects out of her, what then? And if I went on to say that this reading of her character is something I find far more interesting than her being pushed into a heroic self-sacrificing character like her sisters, that it’s more interesting to read about a character fighting their fawning-and-avoidance response to conflict, that it’s more interesting to read about her having to question her morality vs her actions in order to reach self-actualization if not become actually, truly, purely “good,” what then? If I said Elan Archeron has the most intriguing and nuanced setup for “morally gray” as a femme-presenting character?
And to elaborate on the “morally gray” aspects of Elain, I find it more interesting because it’s not like the other characters going “I murdered/severely hurt people and I feel bad about it even though that wasn’t my intention.” Elain feels a lot more real-world morally gray of “I’ll do what’s necessary to make the people around me happy, to fit in, but that might make the people closest to me not recognize me the way they used to; people pleasing to an extreme which might be off-putting.”
Think about Elain in the cabin and the Night Court, quieter than her sisters and everyone around her to the point where she was ignored, but as a human in wealthy society she was the social butterfly, the golden girl that everyone wanted to be around. She changed herself to the environment to grantee her place somewhere, even if it went against / forced her the hide who she is deep down.
She’s a real mystery, hard to pin down, and that contrasts the aesthetic and archetype people have in their head about her, and it’s going to be a real surprise when we actually find out who she is.
Regardless of ships, the Archeron’s journeys are fundamentally about transformation. Placed into an unfamiliar place and environment that breaks them down to their core and forces them to built up from the ground, and I feel like Elain is going to have the most interesting one of those just because of this act of “I’m alright and adjusting” she puts on that Feyre and Nesta were never able to fake.

I'm going to be honest, and I've gone on rants about this on main, but it's worth saying on here as well. as a queer woman and victim of domestic abuse, I automatically side eye anyone who unironically uses terms like "pick me" (real meaning: woman who deserves abuse) and "not a girl's girl" (real meaning: yucky mannish dyke) or whatever middle school lunch table ass tiktok buzzword du jour y'all have invented to create a category of woman who is okay to exclude from your feminism. none of you are slick about this shit. I didn't fuck with it back in my day when it was using terms like NLOG to justify hating queer/gender nonconforming women and victims of domestic abuse and I don't fuck with it now. it's the same misogynistic, homophobic, and/or victim blaming nonsense that's happened forever under a thin veneer of faux-feminism in a new font, and I find any attempt to justify using some cutesy term invented to hate women instead of just being an adult and realizing human beings can't be shoved into neat little dichotomy of "good victim i can empathize with"/"bad victim who deserves it" to be a repulsive character flaw.
Top 5 ACOTAR fandom pet peeves:
1. Bad takes on Elain twisting her character in an attempt to make her more "interesting"
2. Straight Eris
3. Holding Mor in contempt more than any of the problematic men in this series
4. Azriel
5. Pretty much any mating bond rejection theory that isn't the only one that matters: LoA rejecting her mating bond with Helion to save her children (and protect him)
