a lot of people have worded the tommy neg twitter stuff a lot better than i have, but i have something to say about it, and i also want to talk about wilbur.

that stuff he told tommy on his stream about it "not being about him," that was a shit take.

now, it's not a shit take for a 25 year old. i'm glad that wilbur has come to these conclusions after having explored some of the world in his adult life and ultimately deciding to leave twitter. i feel the same way wilbur does, i think my choir professor put it best when he said "just make an effort to support everything you're not." but this is a shitty thing to say to a seventeen year old boy who already goes out of his way to help those around him (who notably talked to wilbur every day when wilbur had bad anxiety back in january). it's a shitty thing to say to any teenager who hasn't had the time to really explore the world for themselves. and it's incredibly unfair for wilbur to insinuate that tommy's mental heath is less important than being a "political activist," especially when wilbur isn't even on twitter.

what the people on twitter need to learn, specifically the kids, is that they aren't supposed to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. they aren't supposed to be constantly educating themselves on human rights issues or politics. shit like that is traumatizing, it's anxiety inducing, and combined with all the hate, it's literally the reason tommy is going to therapy. it's perfectly fine to research or learn about topics you're interested in. tommy mentioned he was really interested in lgbtq+ activism, and i think that's great! but i don't expect him to be constantly retweeting threads or talking about it because it's not his responsibility.

This is 100% twitters fault i hate u bitches. Poor fucking kids dealing with this shit 24/7.
