The New Blockaders revisit their (untitled 1982) anti-film soundtrack through a wide-ranging set of reworkings by twenty-one key figures across the experimental underground. Contributors include Robin Rimbaud (Scanner), Philip Sanderson (Storm Bugs), Mark Durgan (Putrefier), Stephen Meixner (Contrastate), RLW (Ralf Wehowsky, ex-P16.D4), Das Synthetische Mischgewebe, Rudolf Eb.er, Joke Lanz, Dave Phillips (Schimpfluch Gruppe), GX Jupitter-Larsen (The Haters), Jim O’Rourke, Richard Ramirez, Toshiji Mikawa (Hijokaidan / Incapacitants), K2, and Torturing Nurse.
Each artist dismantles and reshapes the source material from a distinct angle, pushing it through abrasive noise, fractured electronics and stark reductionism. Rather than a tribute, the collection operates as a continuation—extending the original work’s anti-structure into new forms while retaining its uncompromising intent.
The result maps a network of artists orbiting The New Blockaders, underscoring both the project’s influence and its refusal to settle into fixed meaning.
