😳: Are they embarrassed by their sneezes, or do they just not really care? Do they apologize after sneezing? Do they say “sorry!” or “excuse me!” or anything like that? If they’re embarrassed about it, why?
he probably doesn’t care at all and usually won’t even acknowledge his sneezing. maybe if someone else comments on it he’ll laugh sheepishly, but on the whole he’s still not too bothered about it. only if he’s sick and sneezing more than usual he can sometimes feel a bit awkward, but he still doesn’t say anything about it. after all, it’s just a natural thing that happens to everyone, and he probably couldn’t do anything about it even if he tried.
😔: What are their “tells” when they’re not feeling their best? Do they sleep more or less? Do they become easily irritated, aggressive, snap at little things? Or do they withdraw and become quieter, cry at the drop of a hat, stay in the background? What’s the one surefire way that one of their loved ones would be able to tell that they’re sick?
i feel like he would try to counteract the sluggishness of having a cold by working even harder than he normally does and putting even more effort into things. he generally tries to push the fatigue aside and convinces himself that he has a lot more energy than he actually does - he feels like if he acts like he isn’t sick, then he will just stop being sick for real, so he pushes himself quite hard (at least while he still can - after a while he gets to a point where his body just can’t anymore and he understands that he needs rest in order to get better)
he also gets more irritable and more easily annoyed than he usually is. he’s always just kind of on edge, and he has to bite his tongue sometimes to make sure he doesn’t take out his bad mood on others who just happen to be in the line of fire.
🤝: Do they like to be taken care of when they’re not feeling well? Or do they hate it when people fuss over them? If they do, what’s their favorite thing about being taken care of? If not, why don’t they like being taken care of? How bad would they have to be before they’d let anyone take care of them in any capacity?
he doesn’t like being taken care of - actually he doesn’t even want other people to notice that he’s sick. he’d really rather not have the extra attention on him, and even more, he absolutely doesn’t want anyone’s pity. only when he gets really sick, a proper flu with a fever, does he let the others help him, and even then it’s somewhat begrudgingly. really he’d just rather fly under the radar, even if that means suffering in silence.
💦: How wet are their sneezes? Do they spray barely at all, or are you gonna need an umbrella? Do they try to cover at all, or just let it go? Do they sniffle a lot when they’re sick or allergies are bugging them?
his sneezes are pretty dry, and he doesn’t usually cover them (except when he’s already wearing a mask - in that case he’ll make sure to pull it over his nose before sneezing). he doesn’t really sniffle a whole lot, he’d rather just get it over with and blow his nose once instead of sniffling constantly for like 20 minutes.
😭: When they’re sick, do they try to downplay their symptoms, or do they treat every little cold like the plague? Do they whine a lot, or do they complain quietly or even just in their head?
he definitely tries to hide his symptoms as best as he can - he really doesn’t want the others to find out that he’s sick because he doesn’t want to worry them. if he has a stuffy nose he’ll take some decongestants to make his voice sound less sick, and if his throat is sore he’ll generally try to speak as little as possible because he gets uncomfortable when others can hear from his voice that he has a cold. when asked, he will begrudgingly admit that he has a cold, but will insist that he’s fine and that it’s not a big deal.
he also doesn’t really allow himself to complain even just in his head - he hates wallowing in self-pity and rather tries to ignore how bad he is feeling. only when he’s very sick (like with a fever) he acknowledges his own misery to himself.
👃: In general, how sensitive is their nose? Can something like a certain flower or smell make them sneeze even if they’re not allergic to it? Do they sneeze a lot on average, or not very much? Does their nose twitch a lot, or barely ever at all?
his nose isn’t very sensitive at all, and he doesn’t have many random sneezes. when he gets sick though or something is triggering his allergies, he tends to sneeze more often - to the point where the others will comment on it because it’s so unusual to see him sneezing. when his nose gets itchy, he’ll rub or twitch it a lot, and he’ll often try to hold back sneezes by rubbing his nose or pinching it closed (it’s about a 50/50 success rate.)
🕯: Are they allergic to other things? Dust, animals, perfumes, certain fragrances? Anything that might be considered “out of the ordinary” to be allergic to? How bad are those allergies?
dust allergies, definitely! at home he has special anti dust mite mattress covers and pillow cases, but he doesn’t always bring them on trips, especially if he’s only away for a few nights. his nose gets a bit stuffy at night (if the bed is especially dusty, he’ll even snore quietly) and he’ll sneeze a few times in the mornings, but it’s nothing too bad and the symptoms usually disappear after he’s taken a shower.
🤒: How often do they get sick? What kinds of illnesses do they tend to get most often? Colds, flu, sinus infections, stomach viruses?
doesn’t get sick all that much, maybe once or twice a year. his immune system is pretty strong. it’s usually just a simple cold, but every once in a while, especially if he hasn’t been resting enough, he’ll develop a fever which puts him out of commission for a few days.
