“Have you lost your mind!?” MC gasped, looking at the mountain of gifts Jumin and his security guards had begun to bring into the living room. The men in black suits lifted multiple boxes and bags with ease into the apartment, but began to struggle finding a place to set them after a few trips back and forth. The couch had a pile, the kitchen counter was covered, and they even began to drift towards the bedroom. “Jumin, stop! Tell them to stop!”
The men started to slow down, and paused to look at their boss. He held up a hand, a signal for them to take a break from lugging in the presents. The guards left out a collective breath, glad to stop their trips from the car outside to the apartment.
“I don’t understand the issue, love. There are multiple of each gift, so you may pick the one you most like. They aren’t all for you to keep.” Jumin opened a flat, royal blue velvet box, showcasing gold ruby earrings. The rubies were shaped like tear drops, with thin gold vines wrapped around the gemstone. “I got other metals and jewels, so you can pick the pair you would wear the most.”
MC sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Jumin, it’s very sweet and... thoughtful, but wouldn’t it have been easier to bring me out to the store?” She wasn’t exactly annoyed, but she sometimes did get frustrated with her husband’s thought process. Or what she felt could be a lack of one, at times.
“Well,” he thought for a moment. “I didn’t wish to take up your time, as we’re currently planning a charity party.” Jumin closed the box, setting it back amongst the many other similar boxes.
MC gestured, baffled by his answer, to the clutter of wrapped gifts taking up space on the counters, tables, chairs, and floor. “This is so much more inconvenient than going out to try on a dress or pick out a pair of earrings!” Her voice came out in a slight whine.
Jumin took in the sheer amount of gifts he had brought in and nodded, “Perhaps I did go over the top. There is just so much I wish to do for you, to thank you for what you’ve done for me.”
MC smiled at him, and picked up one of the velvet boxes, admiring the jewelry. “I admit, you do have a great eye.” She closed the box, and held it out for him to take. “But,” she put her hand over his when he took the box, “money isn’t the way to my heart, nor is it how I want to be thanked. Just tell me you love me from time to time, and shower me in kisses not... gold.”
“I love you,” Jumin gazed at the box in their hands, disappointed. “I guess... All this has to go back down the the van now, right?” The guards around them also began to collect what they had already transported once, each had a look of annoyance on their faces.
MC nodded, and started to pack her arms with bags and boxes, “But don’t worry, dear, I’ll help out. This is partially my fault.”
Jumin looked at her, quizzically, and asked, “How so?”
“I’m gorgeous, I’m smart, and I married a rich man,” MC replied, smug. “Why wouldn’t you want to shower me with gifts?” She winked at Jumin, before heading towards the elevator to bring what she could carry down to the ground level.
