“Our ‘Anteater Love Story’ began in the summer of 2011. Julie and I met during the Freshman Summer Start program as we were both living in the same house at Arroyo Vista. I had originally decided on not attending FSSP up until the last minute when I had a change of heart. I’m glad I did; otherwise, I wouldn’t have met Julie!

After spending the summer and beginning of fall quarter as friends, we felt a connection that made us feel perfect for each other. From October 2011 until now, we shared countless memories and milestones. From experiencing all the personal ups and downs of college to graduating from UCI, we were there for each other every step of the way. 

Over 4 years later, our love is as strong as it has ever been. I truly believe it was fate that brought us together. To have two individuals from two different walks of life crossing paths and meeting at FSSP is more than chance at work. I’m so glad to have met Julie. She is the most caring, funny and down-to-earth person in the whole world and there isn’t a day in my life that I would for wish anything else. I love you with all my heart.”

Another really interesting thing about Jacanas is that it’s the dad who does all the child rearing while mom goes off to lay more eggs. Amd their really good dads too! Plus look at how they Cary their babies around!:

GO WATCH THIS SHOW, HONESTLY IT IS SO AMAZING. 

1) Most of the cast is female. In fact only two main characters are male.

2) Both male characters take typically non-masculine hobbies. Emerson Cod knits almost non-stop and makes pop-up books. Ned is literally called “The Pie-Maker” because he bakes homestyle pies from his mother’s method. Both are shown to be very nurturing and even maternal characters. Conversely, the women? A pair of professional travelling show performers that have gritty sexual scandals the way men usually get (see the entire “Chuck’s father” storylines), a beekeeper who is the single most positive and optimistic character imaginable, and a former professional jockey- Three of four pro athletes.

3) You could very easily make the claim Ned is asexual.

4) Yes, the storyline is about romance. But it’s also about the positive side of a love story, and their only drama lies in overcoming their inability to actually share contact.

5) A very good friend of mine recommended this show to me as “Disney for adults.” I told her it was already on my list to watch because “It’s by Bryan Fuller, from Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me.” Bryan Fuller is now most known for “Hannibal.” The same camera methods and bright colours and lighting techniques Hannibal is known for? Perfected in this show, just using a different tone- The same colour methods in reverse, upping the vivid greens and yellows instead of reds and blues, which sells emotion both ways.

7) Probably one of the best examples of a modern day fairy tale possible.

So.. if you guys actually wanted to see how these shorts on me when I was a size 15……… I cant even comprehend how I dealt with feeling so sluggish and unmotivated for so many years. Getting healthy was the best thing that ever happened to me.
