fell madly in love with the marauders fandom these past few years

currently writing a very long, very dramatic marauders-era fic told from the POV of james potter’s twin sister (OC!)—it’s all about female friendship, messy romance, and the absolute chaos that is teenage wizard war prep

this fic is my child. my roman empire. the thing i daydream about while answering emails at my very serious corporate job

finally decided tumblr was the best place to scream into the void and hopefully find people who scream back

pls talk to me about the marauders. or anything really. looking for moots, vibes, and head cannons that make you laugh and cry. Love all ships honestly- let the homies love each other

I can totally understand having a vision and wanting it to come alive automatically, wanting to type a plot into ChatGPT and for it to spit out full blown chapters- its very tempting in this age.

But heres the problem

Your writing isnt unique. Im seeing the same lines be used across so many fics. The same format of humor as well. As soon as I see one of these lines I know it’s been heavily written by AI and not edited by a human after. Its an immediate turn off for a reader

Your storys are becoming out of universe. Yearerday I literally read “its like quidditch meets parkour”. Im sorry— in what world does James Porter know about parkour in 1976.

Your writing style is being watered down. I would wager, that even if you arent confident in your writing style its better than what AI gives you. As soon as you copy something into that chat, it takes character away. Dont let self confidence get in your way, believe in your abilities and use AI to ask the right questions to improve it- dont rely on it to improve it for you

If we keep moving in this direction the fandom with lose its voice i’m seeing so many of these fics do very well with comments and kudos. Which is fine of course people should enjoy what they enjoy. But if AI writing becomes the standard then what happens to the natural text? Will it be considered “bad”?

Theres no problem with using AI as a thesaurus, a fact checker, maybe even have it give you some plot ideas. But if its fully writing your fic, consider the above. Believe in your own creativity. If you were creative enough to come up with a good story in your head, I promise it’ll be beautiful when it comes out on paper
