Her dark eyes settled on Jared’s profile as he started driving them towards the hotel he had gotten. Her hand resting in his, her fingers interlaced. It was hard to find these solo moments with him when they had the kids around. They were always so busy chasing after Rome and then doing school activities with all the older kids.

His expression softened again as she talked about Sam, her touch grounding him more than he probably realized. He nodded slightly at the mention of Lucy, jaw tightening just a fraction before easing again. “Yeah… it was good for her,” he admitted. “She needed that. I think it helped settle some things she couldn’t really put into words.”

Jared was quiet for a moment, like he was turning something over in his head, his thumb still moving slowly against the back of her hand. Then he glanced over at her again, a small, thoughtful smile tugging at his lips.

“Hey… what if you made it a full girls day?” Jared said, tone casual but intentional. “Take all three… and maybe Odette too.” He lifted a shoulder slightly. “I can call Gen, see if wants a free weekend. I can have the boys for the day and give you time with the girls without chaos, and them a chance to just… hang out with you.”

His grip on her hand tightened just a bit as he added, softer now, “Think it might be good for Sam, having everyone there. Takes the pressure off being the only bonus child there.” He glanced back to the road, then over at her again. “And it gives you your moment with them… you’ve been trying to build that.”
