“Germany is not an island” closes today, June 3 at Bundeskunsthalle, Bonn, Germany. “Germany is not an island,” which includes some 150 works by eighty-one artists, takes its name from a phrase intended to describe the multicultural location of “Germany” as a place where everyone is welcome. In this show, art often seeks confrontation with traditional perspectives and ideas and thus opens up spaces that call for greater tolerance, openness, and reflection. Work by Douglas Gordon is included: http://fal.cn/y6aJ
200 years of the Blues
Not sure if I would call it my ‘blue period’, but I have been using a whole lot of the color recently. Lots of greens as well, a color I never seemed to utilize. In general, the older I get, the more I gravitate toward nature and it feels right.
Inspiration from one of the best to ever do it.
“Art should be something that liberates your soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further.”
— Keith Haring, born on this day in 1958

Nathan Bell
Mastering the art of the turn of a phrase, artist Nathan Bell creates witty typography work reflects upon the provocative political climate while simultaneously drawing attention to the power of language to shape the way we think.
By simply replacing just one word within a slogan or phrase, Bell is able to manipulate the meaning and if so desire, flip the phrase against the original creator, in this case, Trump.
Observing the quick work that Bell makes of language to make it his own, we should use this a a reminder that we should not allow language to trigger our emotional brain. Instead, we should elevate it to the analytical portion of the brain, to ensure we can provide tempered and calculated responses to the information that is fed to us.

Radical typographical works by Nathan Bell.
Very interesting and fresh work by Keltie Ferris. Nice to see an artist taking a leap into a new direction.
Really digging moroccan rugs these days. The fragmentation of the imagery and overall worn textures is relatable to what I’m doing with painting.

Finally got a new website up and running! Thanks to the crew over at Sister Agency for making me look so fresh and clean. Take a moment and go have a look . . .
