Colossians 2   For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;   2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;   3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.   4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.   5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.   6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:   7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.   8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.   As Paul is speaking to the Colossi church he is struggling because he has not meet many of them in the flesh and with the fact that these people were left with no written Word. They didn’t have any New Testament until Paul’s letters started coming, which was in about the early 60’s or late 50’s (AD) and he’s already been out establishing churches for 15 or 20 years, so you can see his concern. Paul’s desire was that even these people in his day, who had come out of idolatry and paganism and knew nothing of even the Old Testament, could maintain their Christian experience with no more background than they had. So his concern was that they had a full understanding.             I am writing this to you today church because through these times we may not be having regular church services, no face to face interaction and there will be a lot of false teaching and deceiving going around. With services being canceled we cannot rely on someone else being a crutch to teach us the word every week.  We must begin to take it upon ourselves to be in our word learning everyday.
