My bestfriend, Joyce, has turned 21 today and instead of giving her a present, this is something for the people who knows nothing or little about her--an idiot’s guide to dealing with her.
So, in order to be able to live with Miss Ramos for at least four (4) years, these are twenty-one (21) pointers):
On First Impressions
More often than not, you can tell she’s very mataray, you know, with all the eyebrows on fleek. But she’s actually not mataray.
On Hobbies and Leisure
During her free time, you can find her either sleeping, or sleeping, or well, sleeping. She thinks (and feels) that she is most productive after sleeping (considering that she’ll wake up and start working two or three hours before a certain deadline).
On Her Profession
She has a bachelor’s degree on applied mathematics (and is currently a data analyst for a telco company) but you should not dare ask her an arithmetic question because she panics and may (or may not) pull out a calculator for you.
On Jollibee
Do not ever, ever dare forget that it’s 1pc Spicy Chicken with Spaghetti and large Pineapple juice.
On Drinks (AKA Coffee)
Minimum is two (2) cups per day (when she was still in college, I don’t know nowadays, but I have a strong feeling it’s still two) but still gets sleepy when faced to readings and/or work.
On Beds
The lower bunk is always, always preferred. Usually her bed is the one covered in Hello Kitty prints or anything pink. Also, comforter/thick blankets are a must.
On Directions
Oh no. No. Just no. Cannot be. Really. No. You just can’t. She just can’t.
On Hair Care
Simply, not sticking to a single shampoo brand is the way to go.
On Lipsticks
Do take note that it’s a nude shade or it’s not touching her lips.
On Flowers
Understand that food >>>>>>>> flowers at all levels, in all occasions.
On Cabs in the Metro
She will never understand why you won’t get that P10-20 change from the cab driver and will forever nag you about that change you didn’t get.
On Sweets
She has a not-so-sweet tooth. 6/10 on the scale, approximately.
On Breakfasts
She’s not a breakfast person but if it’s McDonald’s pancakes, no hesitation, fam. No second thoughts.
On Shyness
She is 102% shy but will get your crush do a Happy Birthday fansign for you.
On Lizar------

On Pets
She loves cats but they have a lot of dogs at home. One time she threatened to kill a bunch of noisy love birds by pointing a knife at them. Very mature, she knows.
On Forever
She believes there exists a forever. But she knows it’s hard work as well.
On Family
She has a sister nicknamed “Ganda” and a father who cut his name in middle for facebook. Her mom is her favorite, maybe because her mom cooks her favorite dishes when she comes home for the weekend.
On Relationships
These are taken very seriously. 11/10 on her serious scale.
On Getting Stronger
I’d like to believe that she believe in “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” because it has happened to her a lot of times already. She has her weak moments, but of course, she never stays there. She always finds that will to step forward, to go on, and in the process, be stronger than before.
On Bestfriends
She will laugh with you, cry with you, and listen to your stories in the wee hours of the morning for five hours straight. She will not hesitate to accompany you to McDonald’s at 12mn for hot chocolate and fries. She will not stop you at getting your 4th cup of coffee but will kill you herself the moment you get up for your 5th. She will take you to the hospital when you get hit by a car, and be your human crutches. She will never forget you birthday, and will tape the birthday balloons on the ceiling because she can’t buy helium balloons. She will never forget all those names of the family members involved in your stories (but she gets confused sometimes). She will treat you like a sister and let you do sleepovers in her house. She never falters--she’s really always there and won’t be long gone. She will be your number 1 Kunsintidor and you will feel her happiness for you when she says she is happy for you.
