This set is done in thought of my Highborne. It needed to give off a royal or at least elegant appearance without being unprofessional or too revealing; to fit into all the cultures but still bear the trademark of a Highborne's expensive fashion, so to speak. (Hat because hats are cool okay; or just to hide their eyes slightly.) I do recommend gloves; depending on the character's business, they don't necessarily want to touch everything with their skin.

It is of a dark shade because it represents neutrality. If one is familiar with elves to a degree, they might know that the colors of their clothes do indeed count. Quel'dorei (High Elves) wear blue, Sin'dorei (Blood Elves) wear red, and black is worn by those not associating themselves with either side in specific. 

Now, because of the model, it has a secondary color; blue-ish hue. I did not think of that until I wrote the last paragraph, but the interpretation of it solely depends on your character. For mine, it is not only to match her hair, but to show that if beyond her market, she seeks refuge among the alliance; or High Elves, rather.

Staves / Weapons Big and glowing weapons in RP are my pet peeve. 

When looking for a staff, or generally a weapon, don't look for it to fit in color. Look for the types of gems, enchantments and general style. Avoid things that are obviously designed for the Twilight Hammer, for example, if your character is not part of it. 

I choose the 'Healer's Staff of the Forest', because it is a dead looking crystal which one can emote to gain a glow when magic is being woven - perhaps change staves to its differently colored models after emoting. There are many possibilities. 

Tabard options; Knight's Colors  Private's Tabard Tabard of Ramkahen Tabard of Conquest (Alliance) These are chosen as fit with how the Transmog stands above. You are more than able to wear a tabard of a different color such as the Tabard of Brute Force or Tabard of the Wyrmrest Accord if you choose a cloak and hair style to fit its accents. Colors stand out when only appearing once on a set    on occasion it is nice, but often it's a color that just throws the look off. Make sure they're balanced. 

Cloak; [Screenshot] [Shadowform with Glyph] I usually prefer not to display any cloak, though I am currently using the Cloak of Frozen Spirits. Note that on its corners are small spots of red; I assume a mistake in terms of design. I myself see to ignore it. But it keeps irritating me.

Staves; (Because too lazy for one-hand & off-hand.) Staff of Draconic Combat Guiding Stave of Wisdom Solstice Staff

These truly depend on your class and whether you are a fan of simple staves or prefer the big and glowing ones. These are also a lovely way to balance out a Tabard of colors that do not belong to the Transmog    Red for example. 

Recommended mounts; Dread Raven  Raven Lord Armored Snowy Gryphon Swift Blue Gryphon Golden Cloud Serpent Mekgineer's Chopper Red Flying Cloud Tyrael's Charger (With white hair or other.) Golden King

Shoulders - Deadly Gladiator's Dreadplate Shoulders Chest - Gendarme's Cuirass Tabard - Tabard of the Dragonmaw Clan Hands - Deadly Gladiator's Dreadplate Gauntlets Waist - Fleshless Girdle Legs - Legguards of lost Hope Feet - Greaves of Iron Intensity The best Tabard match on alliance side I could find is the Kurenai Tabard. Though that of the Scarlet Crusade might just fit as well, if you choose a light hair color and perhaps a cloak. Then again, you could try your luck with a guild's tabard. 

Recommended Sword - Wrathful Gladiator's Greatsword Recommended Polearm - Ruthless Gladiator's Pike ^ Season Elite version, if you have it.

Recommended mounts; Kor'kron War Wolf Iron Skyreaver Red Skeletal Warhorse Crimson Deathcharger Personally, I would not seek a mount to specifically be red, but more so a brown color; such as the Skyreaver and War Wolf. While it might not be a perfect fit to the red accents of the armor, it goes with the class and overall design of heavy plate.
