(so I think tom riddle will always be at least a little yandere but this is in the more traditional sense lol)
I think tom riddle would really take advantage of not only his reputation, but also the mysterious student disappearances at Hogwarts when finally “claiming” his darling (you). you disappear one night when you’d gone to the library, not a trace of you left behind except for a stray pen beneath a chair. the prefect on duty, some hufflepuff boy, has no idea what happened. these are dangerous times, he says, they have been since myrtle died. he’s right, the professors reason, there have been multiple disappearances in these past couple years. not much is done to investigate yours.
no one can hear you pounding on the locked door of tom riddle’s private dormitory, thanks to the numerous spells he cast to ensure complete privacy. he’d have members of the knights of walpurgis routinely stand guard over you whenever he had duties to attend to. any students that may have suspected anything of him were quickly silenced. you’re trapped with tom day in and day out.
at first, you tried to threaten him, but he’d long since taken your wand and even without such means he’s stronger than you. then, you tried to bargain with him. as interesting as that was, there was very little his connections couldn’t get him. after all, it was just you he wanted. now, you’d resorted to the silent treatment, much to tom’s chagrin. he’d much preferred it when you were cursing him or trying to push him away. he tells himself you’ll come around someday. you’ll adore him, just as so many others do. you argue that they’ve never seen this side of him, but tom tells you that you should consider it an honor that he’s revealing this much of himself to you. no, he’s sure you’ll come around eventually. he can be very persuasive, after all.
but still, as he watches you gaze out the window, refusing to even acknowledge him, his hand drifts down to his pocket. the small vial of amortentia malfoy has given him sits heavy against his thigh. “just in case,” malfoy had said. tom had told himself he’d never use it, that it was entirely unnecessary. looking at you now, for the first time, he doubts that.
like mother, he supposes, like son.
