Pyra was an orphan and street urchin pickpocket who grew up in Rustpass Orphanage. From young age she had extra good gut senses, premonitions, and a little innate magic. As a teen she and her fellow orphan Flint joined The Tome, a religious group dedicated to The Phoenix god, and acquiring knowledge and secrets - by any means necessary. Pyra spend years at The Tome as a good luck charm and lookout on jobs to steal knowledge.

On such mission went wrong, they killed a number of innocents. Flint questioned The Tome and left.

Soon after, Pyra died in a smokey vision they don't remember. She came back...wrong and missing an eye.
