There’s nothing beautiful in letting someone go. Selfless, maybe even heroic, sure. But nothing beautiful. It hurts them and it hurts you, and even if it’s for the best, it will never feel that way.

I could just leave. I could, you know? I could walk out the door and just keep walking. Maybe someone would care enough to call the cops. Maybe I’d get caught. Hell, maybe I’d freeze to death before I got five miles. But I could. I could leave if I wanted to. And every day I get more terrified, because every day leaving gets a little bit more tempting.

Is that just the way it is? Do some people never get to be happy?

And so we turn our backs on what could’ve been our lives, and close the door on a future so much brighter than the separate destinies we have now. It’s the ending of a story that never truly began.

You were never promised quick results. You were never promised an easy journey. Your success may be 10 years away and if you give up now, you'll never sleep peacefully. You will always be burdened with regret. Keep going.
