Why I Chose MLIS
I chose the MLIS program (and I am so grateful that it also chose me too!) because I have a passion for connecting people with the information and resources they need and are looking for. I love that the public library is a resource accessible to all. I especially love working with children and children's literature, which has been further augmented by homeschooling my own children with preschool curriculum during the first 2 years of the covid-19 pandemic. Finally, the library has played numerous key roles in my life and in different ways at each stage of life. So looking forward to this program!!!
Regarding the six previous tasks, I was surprised to learn that there are quite a few IT literacy items that I will need to spend some time learning and refreshing my knowledge around, such as building a relational database. I do think that this process would be improved by offering the modules first with the related task at the end of the module, with a "Skip To Task" button for those already proficient, rather than the other way around. I look forward to becoming totally proficient in all the platforms/tasks outlined in the IT Literacy Test!
