Hey! I just realized I've never shared that I've also got a Mario fic ongoing! It took a bit of a hiatus, since I was working in the rewrite to my first MM fic, but NOW it's finally back! (...after over 6 months)

Not sure what happened to Navi in the end. My headcanon is that fairies for quests + healing "move on" after they fulfill their role for angst (but also because I can't imagine Navi leaving unless she had to?? that's her boy??), but regardless, I imagine Navi would dance around the topic of her departure.

In every lifetime.

I love asking people what this game means to them, and how different these answers are. To some, it's as simple as "the creepy Zelda game", or a quiet nostalgia that sneaks up on them, I've heard people say Majora's Mask represents the human condition and how pointless human life is, when faced with the unforgiving nature around us.

I'll always see Majora's Mask as a story about grief, and acceptance. I feel like a lot of people forget that grief is about a lot more than just death, you grieve so often in life. Grieve a dead loved one, a missing pet, a friend who left you. Hell, sometimes grief isn't even about losing a person, it's as small as learning a book series you love isn't sold anymore, or a food you always got is discontinued. Grief exists in everyday life, and it always passes us by, I think.

Link grieving losing Navi, the Skull Kid grieves losing his friends, the missing princess, Darmani and Mikau dying and having to leave their people, Lulu's stolen eggs, the Goron baby and his father, Pamela and her father, Anju and Kafei, everyone and everything in Termina is grieving and unable to move on, all until Link helps them to find acceptance and comfort.
